It was the developer of Pokémon Prism who revealed the ROM hack’s cancellation. He thanked the fans for supporting them for all these years. Adam “Koolboyman” Vierra said that he would soon be back with a longer statement on the issue, but will shut the page for a few days. Adam even posted the copy of the cease and desist ordered that Nintendo had issued.
Nintendo ordered the hackers to stop work on Pokémon Prism and also take down all the links to download Pokémon Brown. The developers are highly disappointed since they had put in eight-years’ worth of work on Pokémon Prism only to see it canceled. According to WWG, Nintendo has always been strict when it comes to infringement of their intellectual property.
They had taken a similar step with Pokémon Uranium. Adam and his team had expected a DMCA takedown notice or even a cease and desist a long time back, but since Nintendo didn’t do either, they thought it was a green signal and continued working on the project.
They were stumped when Nintendo issued the cease and desist four days before the big release.
