‘Pokemon Go’ Play of Teenager Nets Her Search for Pokemon a Dead Body in a River in Wyoming

As per NZ Herald, on the eve of its release, over thousands of people gathered at the Sydney Opera House in Australia, some coming from as far as Germany and China, to participate in a major competitive event for “Ingress.”

Players represented the two rival factions, “Enlightened” and “Resistance” and fought real-world battles all over Sydney throughout the day, with the “Enlightened” winning the day’s conflict.

These large-scale city battles have previously taken place in San Diego, Moscow, Dublin, and the recent one before Sydney was held in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. The final battle in the series will be taking place in Tokyo, Japan on July 16.

Reports say that over 6,000 people took part at the last event in Japan. These massive multiplayer events set up by Niantic Labs for “Ingress” potentially gives a preview of what the developer has in store for the future of “Pokemon Go.”

Before “Pokemon Go” and “Ingress,” Niantic Labs developed the Field Trip app while they were still a part of Google. The app served as a geolocation-based tour guide for smartphones. The app would notify users with historical trivia and facts when they get close to a place of historical or cultural significance.
