Playstation Plus Members Suffering From Outage Getting A Little Bonus!

When most of your business is done through an internet connection, there is going to be troubles from time to time.  The bad thing is, your business is huge and there are millions that are counting on the network you run to be there for them when needed. For the most part Playstation Plus has been solid, but a little while ago, there was a one day outage and that got the community a little freaked out. Like any company should do, Sony decided that it had to reply to the concern from loyal gamers in some way.

Sony has decided to send out codes to those that were affected that will add a free day to their Playstation Plus membership at the end of the month. The one day membership extension is said to be compensation for the outage that hit the network recently. The outage reportedly started this month and impacted things like the Playstation Store, online gameplay for the Playstation 3 and 4, as well as the Playstation Vita.

The outage lasted about ten hours and that was long enough for fans to start freaking out online. Shortly after Playstation Plus was back up and running, Sony announced the plans to compensate those that have an active Playstation Plus membership. The code will be coming to the email that you signed up with, so pay attention over the next few days. The extension code will sync with your account automatically and one day will be added to your membership.

If you were an active member on the fourth of January, then you can expect to see the code pop up in your email. The outage affected more people in Europe than any other location. The codes do expire and according to reports, you will have until the end of March to get that code activated on your account. Some are going to complain about the length of the extension, while others will understand they are being paid back for a full day even though it was only down for ten hours.

In the email that is being sent to users, Sony acknowledges that outage on the Playstation Network and asks that you make sure to get the code used before March 31st. The company apologized for the outage and explained that the code will add one day to the end of any existing membership. Playstation Now and video rentals will also be getting the bonus extensions, but there is no information regarding the length for those members impacted. The emails have been posted on Reddit and there is a nice long discussion there about outages and things like that if you want to know more about it in detail.
