Sony’s PlayStation Plus service continues to offer great games for free to its subscribers, and the new deals for July are already here. According to Sony’s official statement, six games will be offered during the month of July on their platform, and four of them will be for the PS4 specifically. Two games have cross-platform availability across all major recent consoles by Sony – the PS3, PS4 and PS Vita.
First we have “Rocket League”, an online game with arcade-style gameplay which requires a lot of teamwork and coordination, and it’s been getting some good reception ever since it came out, making it a fantastic addition to the PS Plus lineup. “Styx: Master of Shadows” is another title that has received some pretty good recognition overall, and players who enjoy solid RPG games should definitely find this one enjoyable.
The game incorporates some elements of dark fantasy as well, making it particularly interesting to die-hard fans of RPG games, and it has a lot of replay value to offer to those who want to explore all of its intricate corners.
“Entwined” and “MouseCraft” are the two titles that are available across all PS Plus platforms, and they can be purchased and played on any of the three consoles. The first game is developed by Pixelopus, and it was originally shown at E3 2014. In it, players see the story of two souls that are deeply in love but just can’t be together due to certain circumstances.
The player has to take a journey through nine different lifetimes of those souls, depicted by a bird and a fish, and they have to get them together and permanently unite them. It sounds simple, but the game can actually be quite challenging, and its story is very touching as it shows the characters getting together.
On the other hand, “MouseCraft” is a simple puzzle game about using cheese to navigate mice, and even though its gameplay is quite streamlined and doesn’t involve any complex mechanics, the game can be surprisingly difficult to master. It requires some creative decision making and players need to be aware of how everything works together in order to get through its levels more efficiently.
On the PS3, players can get “Rain”, which shows a boy trying to get an invisible girl who can only be seen in the silhouette of the rain as it pours down. The game has a very attractive and captivating art style, and it’s one of the more interesting titles on the platform for players who enjoy a deep, involving story and not just something that looks nice.
“Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved” is a classic title which was just recently released on the PS Vita, and it’s another title available in the current lineup. It’s a fast-paced arcade top-down shooter in a “bullet hell” style, and it’s also a game that offers simple, yet challenging gameplay with a lot of depth to master.
In addition to all that, the PS4 got updated to version 2.55 with a mandatory update, and players should notice an improved stability in their consoles after obtaining the new version. It’s not a major update, and its version number indicates that too – as does its download size – but it does address some reported stability issues, and players should definitely hurry up to download it so they can continue playing uninterrupted and in a smoother environment. And of course, those who notice any bugs should immediately report them to Sony so they can be addressed in the next patch.
