PlayStation Plus Games for January Include Classic Titles and a Recent Remake!

Sony are continuing their work on PlayStation Plus, the premium service for their console subscribers which provides access to free titles on a monthly basis. The company has so far seen a lot of success with the program, with many people signing up to use it and lots of activity around their communities related to the PlayStation Plus offers, and one of the most exciting topics for debate within their fans is the next line-up of games that are coming for free to the service’s subscribers.

For January, gamers are going to get an interesting mix of games, with some classics thrown in the mix. The list has already been announced, and there is a good variety of games in there, including some that are not so well-known, which should give their developers an opportunity to shine in the eyes of players.

Present on the list are titles like “Dragon Age: Origins”, which came out to a lot of success previously, as well as “Medal of Honor Warfighter”, one of the more popular entries in that series. Other than that, gamers are going to find a remake of an old classic which was very successful among fans of the original – “Grim Fandango Remastered”.

The game brought an old adventure to life with new clothes, reminding people why they fell in love with the genre of classic adventure games in the first place. It might be an old title but it still has a lot of merit, and people remember it fondly for plenty of good reasons. The Double Fine team managed to do a great job breathing some fresh life into the game by updating its assets with higher quality ones, and the final result was nothing short of amazing in the eyes of many fans.

The game is available on the PlayStation Vita, and many gamers additionally commented that it was a good move by the studio to release it for the portable console, given the nature of the game. Players enjoyed the new style a lot and at the same time, the title managed to preserve all that made the original so good. It did have some minor issues which were discussed within the community in some heated debates, but nothing that ruined the overall positive impression that the game made.

Meanwhile, Sony had some issues with their PlayStation network which didn’t go by unnoticed in the community. The service was down for half a day, and while the company was able to eventually get everything back online, players were left disappointed at the slow nature of the response and the low communication from Sony on the issue. Of course, it’s unreasonable to expect that the company would specifically describe every issue that they have in detail, but they could have given a bit more information on what was going on, according to some players. Whether or not those wishes were justified is another story.

For now, PlayStation is up and running, with the full online services operating as usual. Players subscribed to PlayStation Plus should be able to enjoy their free titles, and everyone else can participate in online matches and browse the marketplace for new offers. Looking at the set of games that Sony have offered for this month, it looks like gamers will be kept busy for quite a while and some may not even have time to look at the next batch of titles that will come out in a few weeks.
