Plus, one could also say that Sony have traditionally benefited from their rivalry with Microsoft in this market – and vice versa. Having both consoles out at the same time increases the popularity of each one, and people love to talk about which one is a better option, and other similar discussions.
With all that in mind, it might be a bad move for Sony to bring the console to the market at an accelerated rate, as the lack of competition could actually cause a problem for them, according to some experts.
But we don’t even know what the company’s plans are, and how the release of the PlayStation 4 Pro is going to work out for them in the coming months. If the console proves successful and people start talking about its successor more actively, Sony may be smart to go with the flow in that case.
Meanwhile, Microsoft have also been making progress with their own upgraded edition of the Xbox One. Both companies are still actively competing head to head, so it’s possible that even if Sony do decide to release the PlayStation 5 earlier than most predictions claim, there will be an appropriate reaction from Microsoft’s side.
As we said above, that would actually work out in both companies’ benefit. It would also be a great situation for gamers, needless to say, as they will get to enjoy a better selection of platforms with more competitive prices. Plus, developments on the other side could inspire Sony to add certain features to their own console.
