PlayStation 4 Update 4.0 Upcoming Release Means that PlayStation 5 is Still Long Ways Off, Say Critics!

On August 15, Sony said that the PlayStation 4 Update 4.0 shall bring a refreshed user interface among other major changes including some organizational tools that will be part of the larger UI.

The Japanese gaming company also said that a bunch of tweaks and improvements are coming to the main gaming console, including the option to add a system background, redesigned system icons, updated popup notifications, an improved ‘What’s New’ tab, and more.

Sony adds that while a lot of the changes are small, they all work together to create a more refined interface, which has been lacking on the PlayStation 4.

The company also explained that the Quick Menu will also be presented when the PlayStation button on the PlayStation 4 controller is pressed. The menu has been completely overhauled, and users should find it both easier to use and faster overall. It shall cover only part of the screen with the Update 4.0.

The Quick Menu will also show things like communities, party, favorite groups, the gamer’s friends’ online status, some settings options, and more.

The Share Menu, on the other hand, is also changing in a similar way, as it will only be covering part of the screen when opened. The PlayStation 4 Update 4.0 is being referred to as “Shingen” in Japan and the beta will be coming out soon.
