After what appears to be a procrastinated negotiation, actor Orlando Bloom has finally agreed to return to the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie franchise.
Bloom, who appeared in the first three “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie will rejoin Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp, to reprise his role as Will Turner in the “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” the fifth installment of the series to hit theaters on July 7, 2017.
But Orlando Bloom will return sans Keira Knightley, who played Elizabeth Swann, who has been the on-screen partner of Will Turner in the first three movies. Their love story was, in fact, the focus of the first three movies of the series. Keira was in the fourth movie of the franchise but Orlando was not. So it would be the other way around for them in the fifth movie.
In a recent interview, Keira said that she had an amazing experience during her stint with the franchise and she loved every minute of it. However, she also thinks that her time has definitely passed and that she is no longer coming back to the franchise.
20-year time jump
There has been reports that “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” will not pick up where the “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” left off because there will be a 20-year time jump.
Given that there is already that significant amount of time that have passed, the movie will thus feature Brenton Thwaites, who shall play the role of Henry. He will turn out to be the son of Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann.
As Henry will be looking for his father, the way Will turner searched for Davy Jones in the initial three movies of the series, Orlando says that he will be the new Davy Jones in the upcoming movie, notes Youth Health Mag.
In a recent interview, Thwaites said that Henry’s story is about a young man who wants to reconnect with his father, Davy Jones. However, there is a curse that prevents him from doing that and the key for him to continue his search is to go around the obstacle and try to fix it, adding that Henry shall also attempt to save his dad.
Bloom said that since he is now the new Davy Jones, he will be down in the bottom of the ocean and that he will not look anything like himself just like in the previous instalments of the movie.
D23 Expo announcement
It was actually during the recently concluded D23 Expo held in Anaheim, California that Disney officially announced the return of Orlando Bloom as Will Turner to the movie franchise.
Hollywood Life reported that after stepping away from the fourth movie of the franchise, Orlando Bloom will team up again with Captain Jack Sparrow for another swashbuckling adventure.
The fifth movie of the franchise will actually follow Captain Jack’s adventure as he searches for the trident of Poseidon.
In addition to Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, and Brenton Thwaites, “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” will also see the return of original cast member Geoffrey Rush, who plays Barbossa. Kaya Scodelario will also star in the film and she will be the love interest of Brenton Thwaites’ Henry character. Oscar-winner Javier Bardem will take on the role of the villain.
Sometime late in July, there have been rumors that went around saying that filming of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” has hit a major snag that had shooting in Australia grinding to a screeching halt.
Reports have it that Johnny Depp has been the main reason why shooting for “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” was disrupted anew as the actor has not been showing up in the set as of late and that he often comes either drunk or not in the mood at all to shoot.
According to rumors, Johnny is having problems with his newly-wedded wife Amber Heard and it has been affecting the 52-year-old actor big time.
