‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5’ to be Made Similar to Jurassic World

No, Disney is not about to put dinosaurs into the fifth installment of its “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie franchise. When reports came out that “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” will be made somehow similar to “Jurassic World,” what it meant was that the movie is going back to its roots, notes Movie News Guide.

It will not come out as a reboot, but it will simply go back to its beginnings to do a restart. Apparently the last two movies of the franchise had wandered off its key elements that had a negative impact on its box-office results.

If it was a TV series, it would sound like the “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dean Men Tell No Tales” was about to reach its season finale. But in the movies, it is commonly referred to as a reboot.

While the fifth movie of the franchise appears to be a reboot of the whole thing, it is definitely not. The producers just decided to redirect the course of the fifth film after the last two movies of the franchise veered off course.

Going back to its roots

It was actually British actress Kaya Scodelario who said in a recent interview that “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” will be similar to the first film, which is considered a classic.

She added that the creators wanted to have the “Pirates of the Caribbean” epic journey for the entire storyline to make sense by tying everything up to the beginning and lead to new storylines.

The “Maze Runner” actress says her character in the “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” is Carina Smyth. She will be an astronomer and an academician and that she will be fighting for her right to study in the university because having women pursue such vocation is something not normal during the early days.

Her role will intertwine with the goal of Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp, as Carina will also be looking for the Trident of Poseidon. She has a diary which shall offer them clues on how to find what they are looking for. But typical of Captain Jack, he will mess everything up and that’s where all the fun and misadventures begin, details the Ecumenical News.

In addition, just like the first film, “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” will exude high entertainment value the way the first two films of the franchise had almost two decades ago.

Last movie of the franchise?

Although Disney has yet to make any statement to either confirm or deny the speculations on whether “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” is to be the last movie for the franchise or not, what is imminent at this point is that there seems to be some kind of changing of the guards in the movie.

Gone are the love team of Elizabeth Swann, previously played by Keira Knightley, and Orlando Bloom’s Will Turner. Instead, Carina and Brenton Thwaites’ Henry character will be taking center stage beginning in the fifth film.

Now, it is possible that the franchise will be focusing on the seafaring adventures of Carina and Henry and that Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp, will have to take a bow in the fifth film for good. So it is going to be Captain Jack’s swan song to say the least.

But then, Disney might have second thoughts about it eventually depending on how fans would react to it. After all, Captain Jack is the staple character of the franchise and that he has also spawned plenty of merchandising opportunities for Disney both in the past and possibly in the near future.

From a business and commercial standpoint, everything boils down to the result of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” Disney would likely decide from there to either end the franchise for good and start another one or continue it further but with an altogether different set of protagonists.

  1. How was on Stranger Tides a debacle? It was the second highest grossing film of the series, so that’s a success considering it is the 4th film in the series and it was refreshing with it’s new locations and actors… Please don’t mix opinion with facts.
