The massive delays in the filming of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” has already caused producers more than $70 million and that is a lot of money wasted in any language. It is already behind filming schedule even though it is due to be released to worldwide theaters on July 17, 2017.
It is obvious that the cause of the delay is lead star Johnny Depp, who plays Captain Jack Sparrow in the fifth installment of the very successful pirate movie franchise.
Early in March, Johnny Depp had to left filming in Australia and go back to Los Angeles after he accidentally injured his hand. The injury had nothing to do with the filming of the movie but as a result of the actor’s drinking and partying spree while in Australia, details Youth Health Mag.
He came back to Australia in the third week of April bringing along his wife Amber Heard and their two Yorkshire pooches that got entangled in a controversy with the Ministry of Agriculture for slipping into the country without proper documentation.
Giving Johnny the pieces of their minds
Having lost enough money already, the producers at Disney Pictures as well as Jerry Bruckheimer finally decided to give the 52-year-old actor the pieces of their mind, which was a sort of shape up or ship out ultimatum.
Accordingly, they don’t want any more of the actor’s shenanigans on the set because he might force them to make drastic moves. By drastic, it could mean that they cut the actor from the movie or cancel the filming of the movie altogether; either way though, it would not make good business sense so they are forced to deal with Johnny instead.
Fortunately, Johnny Depp took the intervention on a positive light. He subsequently apologized to the crew and the producers and filming have been smoothly progressing since then.
The producers and crew are still keeping their fingers crossed though hoping that Johnny Depp will toe the line. If it’s any assurance to the producers, however, the actor even got a sober coach to ensure that he will be aboveboard for the rest of the filming of “Pirates of the Caribbean 5.”
Movie leaks
While Disney Pictures has been very careful about keeping details of the “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” in secret, aerial photos from the production sets have already leaked online, reports the International Business Times.
Everyone knows that shooting of the movie is currently ongoing in Gold Coast, Australia but one leaked photo that came out shows the old ship used in the movie located in a medieval village.
The photo was posted on Twitter shows a medieval village with a guillotine, gallows, and broken bandstand. It can also be noted in the same picture the bustling crew doing some work on heavy machinery including large cranes.
Accordingly, Johnny Depp showed up in the filming location to do a scene where he was surrounded by British soldiers as they prepare the guillotine to execute some pirates including Captain Jack Sparrow.
It was even caught on video which was posted on the Gold Coast Bulletin. The actor may have noticed that he was being filmed behind the scene so he actually waved.
The execution scene was filmed on June 9, coinciding with Johnny Depp’s 52nd birthday. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer also shared a photo of the cake that was presented to the actor during that day.
Another photo that was posted on Twitter by Jared C. Adamo shows a slightly tilted ship hidden from public view by large container vans. The fan captioned the image by saying that the vessel may have run aground in the movie.
No letting go
After returning to the set of the “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” in April, Jerry Bruckheimer actually posted on his Twitter account the first photo of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow.

i find it hard to believe this story bout JD becuz he is really a dedicated actor and he knows where his gratitude really lies and that is with his fans. i have never seen him fail to take time out to interact with them. he has always been one of those actors that never had to put himself out there, just his example was enough. the only big mistake that i have seen is him getting mezmerized by AH and marrying her, which should never of happened. and i think possibly is thinking bout his old life with his family and is probably shaking his head and saying “what did i do?” and if he is drinking, i would not say this is an excuse as i have over 30 years clean and sober, but codependency is the epitome of this disease and it got the best of him. but its not to late. he can still get out. i do see a big train wreck coming becuz AH is not what she appears to be.
Susan…you really hit the nail on the head…IMO.
