Philadelphia Eagles Can Sign Desean Jackson, The Team Can Have Excellent Depth Behind Him

The 2016 season for Philadelphia Eagles was equally hopeful and disappointing. The latter was mainly due to unrealistic expectations compared to anything that the Eagles did on the field. After their first three-game wins, everyone started having dreams of the post season.

Eagles were a team with a first-year head coach, more than a hole on the roster and a rookie quarterback. As the season wore on, the weakness started exposing itself. Finally, when the dust settled, the Eagles were a team with 7-9 and reduced to watching playoffs on TV.

However, seven wins are not insignificant by a long shot. They need to improve that finish and turn into a real force in NFC East in 2017. The first step of them achieving that goal will take place in March and free agency will open across NFL. However, it will be quite challenging for the Eagles since Spotrac reported that Philly would check in with NFL’s fourth-least cap space.

There have been talks of a reunion possibility between Eagles and DeSean Jackson for quite a long time. Adam Schefter of ESPN told 97.5 The Fanatic through Matt Lombardo of NJ.com that it is more than a few tea leaves point in that direction after an absence of three years from the City of Brotherly Love.

Schefter said that it was logical and that there are certain things that one can see from a mile away. They’ll see it irrespective of whether it materializes or not. In the case of Philadelphia, the highest need is at the wide receiver. DeSean became a free agent and considering how much he respects Doug Pederson, every element that one can think of is in its place.

However, just because Jackson likes the Philly staff and the Eagles have a major need at that position, it doesn’t make this move a fait accompli, especially considering Philadelphia’s limited cap space. The Eagles will use Jackson’s credibility to stretch defenses. He might be 30 now, but he has topped 1000 receiving yards, twice in a matter of three years, in the nation’s capital, including the year of 2016.

The NFL rumors which are flying this season, continue to what move to their conclusions. NFL 2016 has just three games left to be played, and this makes for every team in the league except for the Green Bay Packers, Atlanta Falcons, New England Patriots, and Pittsburgh Steelers concentrating on the upcoming off-season.

Philadelphia Eagles are one of those teams especially looking towards the offseason. They have quite a few needs to take care of during the NFL Draft and the free agency period. If you look at the Free Agency Market, there are quite a few players who can perfectly fit into the Eagles, and this includes one of their former players.

Philadelphia Eagles may sign Desean Jackson

The contract between Washington Redskins and DeSean Jackson has come to an end but this offseason, he will be hitting open market soon. Washington will try to re-sign him again, but Jackson won’t be giving them a hometown discount.

For him, returning to Philadelphia seems like a solid option. Nathan from Bleacher Report revealed that Eagles would surely end up signing him. Jackson caught 56 passes for 1,005 yards along with four touchdowns during his 2016 season with the Redskins. He would be a great upgrade for the Eagles at the wide receiver position.
