The battle between “FIFA” and “PES” is fiercer than ever, as both franchises are coming out with serious installments this year. The developers on both sides have clearly stepped up their efforts in all aspects, from graphics quality to gameplay, and it’s hard to tell which game will offer a better experience for its price. Currently, fans of both franchises are talking about the “opposite” game with positive comments, which is quite different from the situation we’ve seen over the last few years. Will EA manage to steal players away from “PES 2017”, or vice versa?
“PES 2017” just came out with a brand new video showcasing the gameplay and graphics of the new title, and it’s already enjoying a lot of attention all over the Internet. Players are particularly impressed with the visual quality of the game, but also the smoothness of the gameplay and the overall presentation. It looks like the developers of “PES” have decided to outdo themselves and have focused on making the game look its absolute best.
The “PES” franchise is known for good graphics in general, but this year the developers are facing a lot more competition from EA’s side, as the recent showcases for “FIFA 17” left players with their jaws dropped. The game now uses the “Frostbite 3” engine, the same tech that powers the “Battlefield” franchise, so we expect that the new “FIFA” will look amazing both in terms of graphics as well as physics simulations.
But from the recent video for “PES 2017”, it was obvious that this game will also offer a fine-tuned, detailed visual experience while also running a good simulation for the players. Gamers have noticed various interesting details from the video, including the seemingly unique behavior of every player on the field, the subtle nuances in the way the ball moves across the terrain every time it’s kicked, as well as the general smoothness of the presentation.
In terms of gameplay, both series have always done things differently, and they don’t follow the same general path. “PES” is more about the hands-on experience, putting the player in the role of an actual footballer; while on the other hand, EA’s vision for their football franchise also includes lots of detailed management options.
This trend will apparently continue with the new versions of both games as well, so we can expect to see even more micro-management in “FIFA”, and more amazing performances on the field from “PES 2017”. Of course, both games will also come with a variety of new features that expand their gameplay, but the core will be preserved.
With regards to changes, “FIFA” will specifically get a true story mode, allowing the player to follow the development of their team from the very beginning, and see them growing into a powerhouse in the big leagues. Reports indicate that the game will offer various extra features to immerse players as much as possible, including giving press conferences.
Some players have been worried about the future of online play in “PES 2017”, and while the stream of news on that front has been a bit slow, we trust that the studio will put enough effort into this component of the game as well. Konami generally haven’t been that active in implementing new online features in their franchise recently, but this can change with the release of “PES 2017”. Especially if the studio wants to compete with the “FIFA” franchise more seriously, as this is one of the main features of the latter.
