‘PES 2016’ Closes the Gap on ‘FIFA;’ Developer Confident Franchise Can Reclaim Top Spot Soon!

“Pro Evolution Soccer 2016” or “PES 2016” has already been released to the Xbox One, the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 4, the PlayStation 3, and the PC on September 15 and so far, the reviews are giving game developer Konami, extreme delight and confidence for another job well done.

“PES 2016” is proving to be a worthy follow-up to the successful “PES 2015” released last year and it further closes the gap between the game and its direct competitor from the “FIFA” franchise.

PES European manager Adam Bhatti said that it won’t be long before the “PES” franchise outdoes the “FIFA” series of EA Sports. He added that their games are definitely catching up and the competitor has to be respectful about that.

Bhatti said that Konami has to keep on closing the gap between “FIFA” and “PES” and he expects that in a couple more years, his game development company will clearly lead again the competition the way it used to almost a decade ago. He added that there is still a lot of work for Konami to do and foremost of that is to convince a lot of people, particularly gamers and gaming critics, details the Christian Post.

Comparing the two football video games

While a number of gaming critics are reluctant to make comparisons between “PES 2016” and the upcoming “FIFA 16” preferring instead to play both games and enjoy their uniqueness, the comparisons certainly cannot be avoided because it has been going on for more than a decade already.

“FIFA” does a better job in recreating the look of the sport but “PES” enjoys the advantage in the aspect of capturing the feel of the game.

“PES 2016” also carries a much stronger sense of physicality because every time a character player jostles opponents, the level of realism it generates actually far exceeds expectations.

There is also the Master League feature on the “PES 2016.” While it was not as popular during the period of the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation, its current overhaul now enables players to load more stats and team reports.

It now features sleeker menus and cut scenes for key events and also holds a tremendous focus on team balance and spirit.

Konami is also now using the Fox Engine which was introduced several seasons back. It is also the same engine that is now powering the very successful “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” which was released recently on the gaming consoles. Using the new game engine, “PES 2016” is now able to deliver superior animations, character models, physics, and weather effects, which are sure to delight gamers.

Falls short in the graphics

Meanwhile, the Metro of UK has criticized the “PES 2016” for not living up fully to the hype of having the most absolutely incredible game this year.

The outlet particularly cited how the graphics of the game is flawed when it still failed to capture the face of Reading winger Hal Robson-Kanu. It was the same graphics downside of “PES 2015” which apparently the “PES 2016” simply carried on. The face of Robson-Kanu in “PES 2016” still looks the same as the erroneous one in “PES 2015.”

In the video game, the Welshman is described as a prolific winger which Reading fans may be more than little skeptical about. Now some fans are wondering what the player will look like come the “PES 2017.”

Meanwhile, Konami has revealed the soundtrack for “PES 2016” which includes the iconic stadium anthem “We Will Rock You” by the equally iconic rock band Queen.

The full soundtrack of the game features 13 songs including suitably upbeat tracks of the New Wave Generation including “Lifted Up” by Passion Pit, which came out in 1985, and “Somebody New” by Joywave.
