“Persona” is a well-known name in the world of gaming, and the franchise has managed to gather a large following of fans so far. It should come as no surprise that numerous people are eagerly waiting for the newest release in the series, “Persona 5” – and from what we’re hearing about the game, it’s going to move the franchise forward significantly. Hopefully, for the better.
One of the changes that will be introduced in the new installment is to increase the difficulty. The previous “Persona” games were quite well-known for their challenging gameplay already, but it seems like the developers plan on making things even more complicated for the next version. What’s more, the game is apparently going to be made particularly more difficult for newcomers, and might actually force some players to go back and revisit older titles if they want to feel on an appropriate level.
This alone is an interesting development, as lately many companies have been taking steps to specifically make their games easier and more accessible – and then we have cases like this one, where the game is purposefully made more difficult. There is some speculation that the difficulty is actually going to come through side channels, such as a difficult to grasp plot, but in any case, the game will be a more challenging experience for newcomers.
Still, other companies seem to also enjoy the idea of making their players feel more challenged, even if it’s a more niche gameplay style right now. “Dark Souls” is a series practically known for being extremely difficult, but also rewarding to complete, and it’s been quite successful over its installments.
“Persona 5” will also spice up the gameplay a little bit. There will be a stealth mode which can be used to circumvent some of the new obstacles that will be introduced in the game when going around its dungeons. There will also be platforming elements and real-time puzzles that players will have to solve, which will likely force even old-time players to readjust their thinking a little bit in order to properly navigate around the game’s world.
Characters will now be able to use both melee as well as ranged weapons, something which we already got to see in a trailer released for the game. Combat as a whole will likely see some changes, and it looks like the game is going to become significantly more diverse and interesting. “Persona” games have traditionally been full of interesting content for players to explore, but this one might push that trend even further. Something which no players will probably complain about, after all – we just hope that the new content is added for its quality and not quantity.
