‘Person of Interest’ Season 5 Likely to be the Show’s Last, Showrunner Confirms

Since the season has been reduced to 13 episodes, the season finale already has a title. The episode called “Return 0” is reportedly adapted from a simple term for program or procedure that concluded well.

The seventh episode is titled “6741” while the 11th episode is titled “Synecdoche.” The 12th episode of the season is titled “.exe.”

The title alone is a reference that the Season 5 finale will most likely feel like the series finale as writers have already wrapped up the story for the characters.

“Person of Interest” revolves around Jim Caviezel’s John Reese, a former CIA agent who was presumed dead.

He then meets Michael Emerson’s Harold Finch who is on a mission to put a halt on violent crimes before they happen via an advanced surveillance system dubbed as ‘The Machine’ which turns out to have evolved into a sentient AI.

Reese and Finch’s unique brand of vigilante justice attracts the attention of two NYPD officers, Jocelyn Carter, played by Taraji P. Henson, and Lionel Fusco, played by Kevin Chapman.

Amy Acker plays the highly intelligent computer hacker Samantha Groves and aides Reese and Finch in their mission.

Since the show’s third season, viewers were introduced to the advent of a new rival AI called ‘Samaritan’. The fourth season centered on the struggle between the two new competing AIs and their human agents.
