‘Person of Interest’ Creator and Director Jonathan Nolan Promises Fans of 13 Great Episodes for Season 5!

It appears that the rumors about Season 5 being the last season for the American science fiction crime drama TV series “Person of Interest” on CBS are proving to be on target.

While the first four seasons of the show had an average of 22 episodes, the upcoming Season 5 shall only have 13 episodes. That is also what the network did to its previous TV series “The Mentalist” before wrapping it up after five seasons.

It seems that the network just gave the showrunner and director enough episodes to tie everything up and give the TV series a closure so that fans would not feel dismayed.

One other major situation why critics believe that Season 5 of “Person of Interest” is going to be its last is when the network recently announced the official lineup for its mid-season and the TV series was no longer there, notes iSchoolguide.

“Person of Interest” used to be the flagship TV series of CBS during its mid-season but due to the show’s poor ratings during its fourth season, it has become a lesser priority for the network.

Recent reports also say that Season 5 of “Person of Interest” will premiere on CBS in the summer of 2016 although up until this time, the network has yet to make an announcement on the specific premiere date.

Thankful for the opportunity

Despite the looming end for his TV series, creator and director Jonathan Nolan is still very thankful for CBS for giving him and the producers the opportunity to do Season 5 of “Person of Interest.”

He said that it is also good for the fans because they will have the opportunity to see every plotline of “Person of Interest” coming to a wrap rather than leaving them with many unanswered questions.

Having to follow a TV series with no clear ending because it was abruptly cancelled by the network is a critical heart-wrenching feeling for TV viewers that some actually shun watching them.

Nolan also confirmed that there is indeed a high possibility that Season 5 of “Person of Interest” shall be its last but he promises that the story would end well and that he will make sure to give viewers 13 kickass episodes, details the Realty Today.

Attempt to boost its ratings

In fairness to CBS, when it moved the premiere date of Season 5 of “Person of Interest,” the network did not mean to discredit the show or put it in a low priority. It actually wanted to help the show boost its ratings by pitting it against not-so-tough competition, which usually comes during summer.

Season 5 of “Person of Interest” was supposed to debut this fall on CBS after it was renewed by the network for another season amid rumors of its cancellation.

Apparently, the rumors appear to have a good leg to stand on since the show has not been doing well in the ratings game during its last season.

However, instead of letting the ax fall on the show just like it did to two of its TV series a few months ago – “Extant” and “Under the Dome” – CBS decided to hold on to “Person of Interest,” at least for another season.

Person of Interest

But when the network recently released its mid-season schedule, the Jim Caviezel-starrer TV series was not on the list. Eventually, word came out that the network has decided to defer the premiere of Season 5 of “Person of Interest” from its usual fall debut to the summer of 2016.

The returning shows for CBS during its mid-season schedule include “2 Broke Girls,” “Mike & Molly,” “Angel from Hell,” “Survivor,” “Undercover Boss,” “The Amazing Race,” “Criminal Minds,” “The Odd Couple,” and “Code Black.”

  1. This article refers to the ratings been low but the truth is the show is not owned by cbs which is the primary problem. The show was higher in the ratings than quite a few other cbs shows which were picked up for full seasons. Also last seasons ratings for the show are better than some of cbs new shows of the season which are considered hits.

  2. This show is easily the best TV show I have ever watched so far, and I have watched a lot of them ! Every episode is captivating and the story is so well thought out, I have no words to describe how good this show is.

I am sad to hear season 5 will be the last, but every good thing must come to an end, and what a last season so far ! Hopefuly the ending will be as good as the rest of the show.

Thank you so much for making this TV Show !
