‘Penny Dreadful’ Season 4 Online Petition Reaching 15,000 Signatures Still Does Not Guarantee the Return of Series Creator John Logan!

Everyone knows that the British-American horror drama TV series “Penny Dreadful” on Showtime has already ended during its Season 3 finale that aired in June. There was even a ‘The End’ towards the end of the final episode to confirm that it is all over for the show.

But some fans of the TV series still refuse to believe that it is done and over with for “Penny Dreadful,” saying that the Season 3 finale was forced and that the show deserves at least one more season to give every plotline a satisfying conclusion.

In fact, a petition has subsequently been initiated on Change.org with the intention to call the attention of networks, streaming services, and the production members of “Penny Dreadful” that Season 4 must be considered because it is what fans of the show want.

To date, the online petition is just 600 signatures short of its targeted 15,000 but some critics doubt if the move could still change the decision of the producers of “Penny Dreadful.”

In fact, many are saying that even if the petition meets its target of 15,000 signatures, it still does not guarantee the return of “Penny Dreadful” series creator John Logan. Without John Logan, the supposed series continuation would be lost, cites the Christian Today.

That’s in addition to the fact that the main female protagonist in Vanessa Ives, played by Eva Green, is already dead and it would be absurd for the show to continue without her let alone bring her up from the dead and turn her into something like Brona or Lily Frankenstein, the role played by Billie Piper in the TV series.

Just a three-season TV series

In a recent interview, John Logan said that he had always envisioned “Penny Dreadful” as a three-season story and there would be no point in doing a spin-off or a sequel without Vanessa Ives.

For her part, Eva Green also said in a recent blog that she can absolutely confirm that it is really over for “Penny Dreadful.”

Logan added that the whole idea to have a ‘The End’ during the Season 3 ninth and final episode applies to all of the characters not just for Vanessa Ives. He said that he thinks that it is the right ending for the show so for him to revisit the world again would seem inorganic.

The showrunner also confirmed that if Showtime CEO David Nevins approached him sometime in the future about revisiting the show or doing a possible spin-off TV series, he would still be open to the conversations, but as it stands, “Penny Dreadful” is done and over with.

DVD copy of Season 3 out soon

Fans are still mourning the abrupt demise of “Penny Dreadful” but most of them would be happy to know that the DVD copy of the full Season 3 of their favorite TV series shall be hitting video shelves on October 4.

Showtime revealed that the DVD copy of Season 3 of “Penny Dreadful” shall come with several extras.

The copy will consist of all nine episodes of the season as a three-disc collection. Exclusive to the Blu-ray and DVD release are the special behind-the-scenes looks including ‘Hecate’s Witch Prosthetics,’ ‘Vanessa’s Costumes’ and ‘The Dead Zoo,’ details the Vine Report.

For those, however, who can’t wait until October to enjoy the final season, Netflix has just put up the “Penny Dreadful” capper in their available shows to stream. With this addition, the complete three seasons of the show are already on the streaming platform which makes it great for binge-watching.

During the Television Critics Association summer press tour, Showtime CEO David Nevins confirmed that there will be no fourth season for “Penny Dreadful” starring Eva Green.

The confirmation from the Showtime top honcho also doused cold water on the ‘Save Penny Dreadful’ online petition that has been initiated at Change.org.
