John Clare, played by Rory Kinnear, on the other hand, decided to head off elsewhere and was last seen heading to icy waters onboard a fishing boat. Evidently, he discovered that he was not the Frankenstein monster that he was previously hyped to be as that title appears to belong to Lily.
Showrunner John Logan, in a recent interview, did not confirm whether the characters will see each other again, but he did say that the Season 3 of “Penny Dreadful” will be a change of pace for the series, particularly in terms of the show’s setting.
He said that the change is good because the TV series can already get out of the alleys and cobblestones bars of Victorian London and see a bit more of the world, indicating that filming can actually happen outside of the British capital city.
He also said that there will be a pull that shall bring the characters back together and that is going to be supernatural, partly romantic, and partly shared destiny.
The show’s title “Penny Dreadful” actually refers to the penny dreadfuls, a type of 19th Century British fiction publication with lurid and sensational subject matter. The series draws upon many characters from the 19th century British and Irish fiction including Dorian Gray, Mina Harker, Van Helsing, Victor Frankenstein, and his monster.
