Season 3 of the British-American horror drama TV series “Penny Dreadful” is set to make its debut on Showtime on May 1. With less than a week to go before the critically-acclaimed TV series returns to the small screen, it is understandable why fan anticipation and excitement are at an all-time high.
But Showtime decided to further add fuel to the fire by coming up with a promo for the premiere episode of “Penny Dreadful” Season 3, notes Variety.
The network has come up with a promo offer to give viewers the opportunity to watch the premiere episode of “Penny Dreadful” ahead of its debut on the small screen and for free. Of course, those Showtime subscribers are entitled to the promo but the network also expanded it to include those who are not subscribers.
Apparently, non-subscribers can also take advantage of the Showtime offer for “Penny Dreadful” Season 3 through YouTube, Facebook, and SHO.com, the network’s official website, reports Indiewire.
The episode shall also be available for download as a free video podcast on iTunes, streaming across multiple devices as well as on numerous On Demand channels.
Showtime subscribers can watch the uncensored version of the Season 3 premiere of “Penny Dreadful” on Showtime.com, Showtime On Demand, or the stand-alone streaming services available through Amazon Prime, Hulu, Roku, and others.
Scaring fans out of their wits
A few weeks ago, Showtime has unraveled the latest trailer for Season 3 of “Penny Dreadful” and it looks like the show plans to scare its fans and loyal viewers out of their wits.
The new trailer of “Penny Dreadful” Season 3 showed Ethan Chandler, played by Josh Hartnett, returning to New Mexico in the US. New Mexico is where Ethan grew up and first experienced a werewolf attack, which evidently turned him into a werewolf.
Apparently, Season 3 of “Penny Dreadful” will dwell on the backstory of Ethan and how he became a werewolf. In fact, in the new trailer, the succeeding sequences that was shown after his return to New Mexico featured blood, murder, death, and haunting.
The plotline about Ethan’s return to his hometown is how it would affect him, the place, and the people around him.
In addition to the backstory of Ethan Chandler, “Penny Dreadful” Season 3 shall also feature the backstories of the other main characters. It would really be interesting for fans to see the backstory of Sir Malcolm Murray, played by Timothy Dalton, who is also one of the main protagonists of the TV series, although a glimpse of it was already shown in the first two seasons.
Dealing with her dark side
“Penny Dreadful” is mostly about Vanessa Ives, played by Eva Green, and how she is dealing with her good as well as her dark side. The first two seasons of “Penny Dreadful” already gave a good glimpse of her backstory too and how she has become connected, in a way, with Sir Malcolm Murray.
The latest trailer of “Penny Dreadful” Season 3 also showed Vanessa toeing the line between sanity and insanity.
Most of the critics believe that the latest trailer of the TV series created by showrunner John Logan looks really stylish. It also pushed the envelope with its gothic visuals and aesthetics.
Just like in its first two seasons, “Penny Dreadful” Season 3 shall be focusing on the tortured past of its core leads in style.
In addition to the three main characters, there is also Dorian Gray, played by Reeve Carney, Lily Frankenstein, played by Billie Piper, Victor Frankenstein, played by Harry Treadaway, and the Creature, played by Rory Kinnear.
Season 3 of “Penny Dreadful” is already set to air on May 1 on Showtime and based on the promotional photos and the show’s first official trailer, it will focus on the uncanny, albeit eerie, side of Vanessa Ives, played by Eva Green, and the other main characters.
