The ominous sign of the show’s cancellation after Season 3 became obvious when both episodes 8 and 9 was scheduled as a two-part season finale on June 19. It was like the network wanting to get rid of “Penny Dreadful” off the air that it did away with one more week of airing.
Film critic Theresa DeLucci, an avid fan of “Penny Dreadful,” says that she was disappointed with the Season 3 finale of the show.
She said that she knows that John Logan claimed that it was his design to have “Penny Dreadful” end the way it did, but it really did not come across that way. DeLucci said that the series finale felt very rushed, notes Wired.
Just like most critics, DeLucci thinks that it is more likely that the weak ratings forced “Penny Dreadful” into an unceremoniously brisk conclusion. She added that the TV series never seemed to get much buzz but that she definitely did her part to spread the word of how great “Penny Dreadful” is.
The critic also said that she has been brandishing the TV series to her horror-loving friends, particularly women, and keeps on insisting that they have to watch “Penny Dreadful.”
She was even telling those who refuse her offer to just give the show a chance and she believes that they would eventually love it. She also said that those friends of her are now mad at her for making them watch the show and it was abruptly canceled and getting a rushed ending.
