There were so many surprises during the first season of “Bringing Up Bates.” For starters, Michaella Bates and Brandon Keilen announced that they were getting married. OK! Magazine reported that the wedding will happen on August 15 in Knoxville, Tennessee at the Wallace Memorial Baptist Church. After the wedding, the couple will move to Chicago to start their new life together.
Michael, Michaella’s nickname in the family, and Brandon got engaged on April 13 after more than a year-and-a-half long relationship. Brandon was very creative in his proposal. He set up an exciting scavenger hunt in different locations. Of course, the hunt ended with him down on his knee while asking Michael’s hand in marriage. It was very romantic since they ended up in a very scenic spot in the Great Falls.
The conservative couple, who were only allowed to hug after their engagement, celebrated the occasion with a big family dinner. Michael’s parents, Kelly Jo and Gil, will meet Brandon’s parents in the new season. Michael and her family will head over to Chicago for the meet and greet. It was reported that there will be an intense heart-to-heart session between the parents.
Meanwhile, the Bates family celebrated Valentine’s Day in their own creative way. Instead of the usual chocolates and flowers, they had an exchange-gifts session for the entire family. They said it is their own special way of saying “I love you.”
Having 19 kids in the family, with three of the Bates’ kids being married, it is hard to keep track of everything. So, they decided to create a list of what everyone got from everybody else during their Valentine’s “I Love You Day.”
Michael and Brandon, the newly engaged couple, got new coffee mugs and a picture frame for their new house with a restaurant gift card. Chad and Erin got a gift card from the crafts store. Lawson received new clothes. Nathan had a pair of jeans, a shirt and a couple of candies. Josie also received a gift card, purse, shoes, boots and socks. Katie got some shoes from Carlin. Jackson had a toy helicopter that he will share with Isaiah, a board game, and some candy.
Moreover, Warden, the athletic one, got some tennis shoes, athletic shirts, pants, coat and work gloves. Isaiah who has a helicopter with Jackson also received a dress suit and some candy. Addallee got a new skirt, an adorable cupcake maker and coloring books. Ellie had a princess dress, nail polish and candy. Callie had a twinset gift with Ellie. Trace got a new pair of jeans which he will probably use while playing football. Jeb had a tickle monster book, a coloring book and a plastic bat from his big sister Callie.
