He was talking to the Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan‚ Ali Reza Haghighian who called on him at the “Aiwan-e-Sadr” (presidency) on Wednesday.
The President said that relations between the two countries are deeply rooted in their historical‚ cultural and religious commonalities.
He urged the need for further strengthening of bilateral equation especially trade and economic ties for the mutual benefit of the people of the two countries and the region.
Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations were also discussed during the meeting, according to an official statement.
The ambassador conveyed to the President the greetings and good wishes of the Iranian leadership.
The President thanked the ambassador for his gesture and conveyed his good wishes to the newly elected Iranian President and the people of Iran.
The Iranian ambassador expressed satisfaction with the level of relations between the two Islamic and neighbouring countries.
