There are plenty of reasons to go see a movie in the winter months and depending on where you live in the country, even that can be a pain. One of the movies that opened recently was a success and even a few of the online reviewers and critics were pleasantly surprised by it. That movie is called, Paddington and it is one kids movie that you would certainly need to take your kids to. Children’s movies these days are often animated and they are always huge hits because they look like cartoons.
With Paddington, things are a little different, but the story is the same. Most reviewers hit children’s movies with the same feeling that there should be more of them, especially when they are giving out moral support like Frozen or even Shrek for that matter. Paddington is more of a live action film that brings the popular Paddington bear to life in the United Kingdom.
The popular book series by Michael Bond, but those of you that live in the United States might not have had the chance to read them as a child. That makes the Paddington character brand new to you. According to one reviewer, the movie was “warm, gentle, well-acted, funny” that that was without being stupid. There are so many movies that tank at the box office because of “stupid” funny. The director of the movie comes from the popular British television show called “The Mighty Boosh” if you have ever heard of it.
Taking your kids to the movie is a no-brainer and with great reviews online and even better box office success, there is no reason to think that you will not like the movie. Paddington is being described as a “visually stylish” and “inventive” by many of the critics online. For a children’s movie that is not animated, that is a very good compliment since making a live action movie that features a talking bear is not that easy to produce.
The movie takes place in the United Kingdom and features Paddington trying to get to London in search of a new home and a family to go along with it. The actual bear in the movie is brought to life by CGI and is voiced by Ben Wishaw and brings with it enough humor to keep the parents interested. Nicole Kidman is also in the movie as Paddington’s enemy with one goal the entire movie and that is to turn Paddington into a stuffed bear.
