Executive producer Ronald D. Moore of the British-American TV series “Outlander” on Starz network revealed during a recent Q&A with show fans on Twitter that Season 2 of the popular show will premiere officially around March or April next year.
He did not specify the exact premiere date of “Outlander,” but he also confirmed that the characters Roger and Bree from the novels of author Diana Gabaldon, will appear in the second season of the TV series.
In the novels, Roger Wakefield MacKenzie is the adopted son of Reverend Reginald Wakefield. His birth parents were killed during World War II; his father’s plane went down while his mother was killed in the London Blitz.
Roger is married to Bree or Brianna MacKenzie, the daughter of Jamie and Claire Fraser, played by Samie Heughan and Caitriona Balfe, respectively, in the TV series. Roger and Bree will have two children, namely: Jeremiah Ian Alexander Fraser MacKenzie and Amanda Claire MacKenzie.
Moore has not disclosed yet the actors who will play the role of Roger and Bree when their characters are introduced in Season 2 of “Outlander.”
Show’s new direction
After the Season 1 finale in May, Moore also explained the new direction of the show for its second season.
He explained that the characters who lived in a Scottish world during Season 1 will look and feel different on the upcoming season because they will move to a French setting, which will be all about the Aristocracy, fine linens and silks, gilt chandeliers, Versailles, or Paris, notes Realty Today.
Moore actually held the Q&A on Twitter before the game of the San Francisco Giants got underway on September 13. The “Outlander” executive producer is an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants and he had the Q&A while waiting for things to heat up at the ballpark, details Zap2it.
As far as Season 2 production of “Outlander” is concerned, Moore disclosed that it is currently doing well, confirming reports that the two lead actors were recently spotted filming in Prague in the Czech Republic wearing French attires.
He said that the show looks amazing and that the cast is superb. He said that the story is also very good and he is optimistic that the fans would love it.
Filming in Scotland
Before the filming in Prague, Czech Republic, the production of “Outlander” began in Glasgow, Scotland last month.
While the next season of the TV series is set in France, the majority of the action and the scenes shall still take place in Scotland and also in Prague. It could be remembered that Scotland provided the perfect backdrop for the first season of the show including the Linlithgow Palace and the Tibbermore Church. The popular time travel show even had a one-month filming stint at Doune Castle.
Behind-the-scene images of the filming of “Outlander” Season 2 were leaked and show the Pollok Country Park in Glasgow being used to depict a scene from France during 1700s. The pictures also show the actors having discussions with some of the production staff prior to the filming of the scenes.
The new costumes in the current filming of “Outlander” is in stark contrast to the ones worn by the actor during Season 1 and it seems that the attires for the upcoming season are more colorful involving blue, red and other bright colors. The materials used in making the French costumes were also lustrous and luminous.
Season 2 of “Outlander” will see Jamie and Claire Fraser continuing their story from Scotland to France. They will actually attempt to change the course of history in Paris as they will try to stop the Jacobite rising by seeking out Bonnie Prince Charlie.
The second season of the show will feature Jamie and Claire adjusting to their new life in France and how they will attempt to stop the Battle of Culloden from happening.
