‘Outlander’ Season 3 Casting Search for Young Ian and Lord John Grey Has Begun

Fans of the Starz’ hit series “Outlander” are happy to know that the producers have started working for Season 3. Casting calls for who will portray the characters Lord John Grey and Young Ian have begun. This was confirmed on Twitter by the show’s executive producer Maril Davis.

Last month, the series was renewed for a third and fourth season and will adapt storylines from the third and fourth novels, “Voyager” and “Drums of Autumn,” respectively.

During the Season 2 finale, Claire’s 20-year-old daughter Brianna finds out about the three-year disappearance of her mother and deduced that she is a product of an affair.

Back in 1746, Claire and Jamie planned to kill Charles but Dougal overhears it and was thus killed by Jamie. He then guesses that Claire is pregnant and suggest that she go through the stones in Craig Na Dun to save herself and their child.

Claire then goes through the stones believing that Jamie died in the Battle of Culloden. The season ended with Roger telling Claire and Brianna that Jamie did not die in the battle and Claire vows to go back to see him.

“Outlander,” based on Diana Gabaldon’s novel, continues to be a huge success as it enters its third season. Fans of the books are looking forward to seeing the two new characters come to life on screen.

During an episode of Season 2, Oscar Kennedy portrayed the younger version of Lord John Grey. Grey made a feeble attempt on Jamie’s life in an effort to save Claire from the savage Scots.

As per Daily Record, Jamie and Lord Grey will once again cross paths, but this time, the now Governor of Ardsmuir Prison will have a big impact on Jamie’s life.

In Gabaldon’s novels, Lord John Grey plays an integral role in Jamie’s life sans Claire. The Scot survives the Battle of Culloden but becomes a prisoner at Ardsmuir Prison where Grey now holds power.

In the novel, their budding friendships soon arrive at an awkward stage. Apparently, John Grey and Claire Fraser have something in common—they will all go to great lengths to protect the ones they love.

The closeted Governor is said to be secretly in love with Jamie, and an intimate scene involving the two is rumored to happen in the upcoming episodes of Season 3.

Rumors say that fans will witness a kiss between Jamie and John Grey, but showrunners and writers are tight-lipped about this.

This scene will probably make quite a controversy, especially if the intimacy between the two escalates. It can be recalled that during the first season, Jamie had a post-traumatic stress disorder after Black Jack raped him.

Spoilers suggest that if the season will closely follow the novel series then Jamie will father an illegitimate son to Geneva Dunsany named William. Geneva and her husband, Lord Ellesmere, will die to leave young Willie in the custody of Isobel Dunsany.

Jamie is said to flee Helwater when Willie’s appearance slowly resembles him which therefore raises questions about the boy’s real parentage.

Lord Grey then protects Jamie by marrying Isobel and becomes William’s stepfather. Grey swore to prevent William and the others from knowing the truth with Jamie offering himself to the Governor in return.

It will probably come as a surprise that Jamie will allow himself to be involved with a man after his previous traumatic experience.

Young Ian, on the other hand, is the son of Jamie’s sister Jenny and her husband Ian. Young Ian plays and important role in the lives of Jamie and Claire especially in the fourth novel.

Young Ian’s independent spirit, curious mind, and his escapades in life will set things in motion for the couple.
