Outlander Season 2 to See Jamie Frazer Squaring Off with Black Jack Randall, And More

Season 2 of the British-American historical drama TV series “Outlander” on Starz is to be based on Diana Gabaldon’s second book titled “Dragonfly in Amber.”

Because the book is already out, there are already plenty of speculations and possible spoilers for the second season of the TV series which is due to premiere next year.

One of the most important spoilers written in the book is the epic duel between Jamie Frazer, played by Sam Heughan, and Black Jack Randall, played by Tobias Menzies, notes Movie News Guide.

It could be recalled that Jamie has an axe to grind against Black Jack because the latter tortured him in Season 1. Their face-to-face meeting on Season 2 is an opportunity for him to give his tormentor some payback. Jamie also had to deal with a traumatic incident which he suffered in the hands of Black Jack.

Black Jack and Jamie will not just settle for a stare down when they come face-to-face because there is really going to be a confrontation. In fact, several leaked photos of the filming at Pollok Country Park in Glasgow, Scotland showed the fighting scene between the two. The encounter scene is the most anticipated in “Outlander” by fans and viewers of the popular TV series.

Rewriting history

Consistent with previous reports, the second season of “Outlander” will be set in France and Jamie and Claire Frazer, played by Caitriona Balfe, will work on rewriting history as it happened by attempting to stop the Jacobite rising. The Frazer couple will try to prevent the Jacobite rising from happening by seeking out Bonnie Prince Charlie.

They will also have to deal with Claire’s pregnancy that will put their relationship to some tough challenges up ahead. But it is definite that the relationship of Jamie and Claire will only grow stronger in Season 2 based on previous reports.

There have been reports also that when Claire gives birth to her daughter by Jamie, which they will name Brianna, she will have her take Frank’s last name instead. It would sound absurd to many of the show’s fans since Frank is in the modern times while Jamie and Claire are in the past.

Return of former lovers

But there are hints that Frank may become a great obstacle for Jamie and Claire. However, it will not just be Frank who will attempt to drive a wedge in the relationship of Jamie and Claire but also an ex-girlfriend of Jamie, who might make an appearance in Season 2.

However, the love of Jamie and Claire will actually carry them through with their present ordeal regardless of how big they may seem, notes the Christian Post.

Season 2 of “Outlander” is set to premiere next year yet, but speculations about the plotlines of the upcoming season have been going around the internet which only indicates how popular and widely-followed the show is.

Reports also have it that the character Lord John Grey from the novel will eventually make his way to the TV series on the second season.

Lord John Grey is a very important character in the “Outlander” book series and his mysteries even went on to inspire other spin-off books from Gabaldon’s writing masterpiece. The character is actually inspired by Gabaldon’s book titled “Dragonfly in Amber.”

Showrunner Ronald D. Moore confirmed the reports about Lord John Grey when he revealed in a recent interview that the plan to introduce the character in Season 2 of “Outlander” was already in the back of their minds for a while. He added however that their focus right now is on delivering Season 2 and they will just take it from there and see how to integrate Lord Grey to it.

Filming for Season 2 is now underway and what’s even exciting the producers, the cast and the crew, are reports that even before the second season of “Outlander” premiere on Starz next year, it has already been renewed for Season 3. According to sources privy to the network, the only thing missing is the formal announcement of the renewal.

Meanwhile, critics have been chronicling updates on the filming of “Outlander” Season 2 that started on June 2, which showed photos of Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe in the set.
