Season 2 of the British-American TV series “Outlander” on Starz is set to premiere next year yet but speculations about the plotlines of the upcoming season have been going around the internet wildly which only indicates how popular and widely-followed the show is.
“Outlander” is based on the novels by critically-acclaimed author Diana Gabaldon and reports have it that the character Lord John Grey from the novel will eventually make his way to the TV series on the second season, reports Cartermatt.
Lord John Grey is a very important character in the “Outlander” book series and his mysteries event went on to inspire other spin-off books from Gabaldon’s writing masterpiece. The character is actually inspired by Gabaldon’s book titled “Dragonfly in Amber.”
Showrunner Ronald D. Moore actually confirmed the reports about Lord John Grey when he revealed in a recent interview that the plan to introduce the character in Season 2 of “Outlander” was already in the back of their minds for while. He added however that their focus right now is on delivering Season 2 and they will just take it from there and how to integrate Lord Grey into the series.
Season 2 production underway
Filming for Season 2 is now underway and what’s even exciting the producers, the cast, and the crew, are reports that even before the second season of “Outlander” premiere on Starz next year, it will already be renewed for Season 3. According to sources privy to the network, the only thing missing is the formal announcement of the renewal.
Meanwhile, SpoilerTV has been chronicling updates on the filming of “Outlander” Season 2 that it started on June 2, which showed photos in the set of Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser, and Caitriona Balfe, who plays Claire Fraser.
There were plenty of spoilers from June 2 until September 25 where the spoiler was about the deleted scene of Season 1 “Outlander.”
The spoiler released on September 23 is actually the confirmation that the characters Lord John Grey and Roger Wakefield MacKenzie will appear in Season 2 although no actors have been identified as of yet by the showrunner or the producers to play those two meaty parts in the TV show.
In the novels, Roger Wakefield MacKenzie is the adopted son of Reverend Reginald Wakefield. His birth parents were killed during World War II; his father’s plane went down while his mother was killed in the London Blitz.
Roger is married to Bree or Brianna MacKenzie, the daughter of Jamie and Claire Fraser. They have two children, namely: Jeremiah Ian Alexander Fraser MacKenzie and Amanda Claire MacKenzie.
Look and feel different
After the Season 1 finale in May, Moore also explained the new direction of the show for its second season.
He explained that the characters who lived in a Scottish world during Season 1 will look and feel different on the upcoming season because they will move to a French setting, which will be all about the Aristocracy, fine linens and silks, gilt chandeliers, Versailles, or Paris.
Moore actually held the Q&A on Twitter before the game of the San Francisco Giants got underway early this month. The “Outlander” executive producer is an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants and he had the Q&A while waiting for things to heat up at the ballpark.
As far as Season 2 production of “Outlander” is concerned, Moore disclosed that it is currently doing well, confirming that reports that two lead actors were recently spotted filming in Prague in the Czech Republic wearing French attires.
He said that the show looks amazing and that the cast is superb. He said that the story is also very good and he is optimistic that the fans would love it. Before the filming in Prague, Czech Republic, the production of “Outlander” began in Glasgow, Scotland.
Wow, there REALLY should be a spoiler alert at the beginning of this article. Thankfully, I’ve read the books but many viewers of the TV series haven’t, and this gives away plotlines not only for the second book but also subsequent ones. Please add a warning.
