Outlander is an American-British television series that started back in August of 2014. It follows a nurse back in 1945 who ends up transported back to Scotland in the year 1743. There she happens upon a Highland warrior and that makes for the first part of the drama in the series. The first season was very well received and at the end of the season it is revealed that Claire, the main character, is pregnant. That cliff hanger left plenty of suspense for the upcoming season.
Fans have been taking to the web to see what they could find out about the second season. The first thing was whether or not the show was even extended for a second season. Since that announcement that it was, fans have been digging around to find any and all information as to what they can expect for Outlander Season 2. The second season is expected to start in the spring of this year, but an exact date has yet to be announced.
A short summary of the second season has leaked online and according to that Claire and Jamie find their way to Paris and in order to stop the uprising, they try to divert funds from King Louis XV of France that are on the way to Charles Stuart. That might just be enough information to keep the fans wanting more for now. Other spoilers and character information has been coming in weekly from various online sources.
The Outlander Season 2 will be based on the novel called Dragon Fly in Amber, which was also written by Diana Gabaldon. According to at least one source, the Lord John Grey will be playing a major role in the lives of Claire and Jamie. When the Lord comes upon the two, he assumes that the Highland warrior has taken Claire hostage and that is how the second season drama starts. Most of the second season will be shot in Scotland. Other sources are reporting that fans and viewers are going to be seeing a major costume overhaul in the second season.
One costume designer had mentioned in an interview that more than 10,000 new items and 5,000 shoes were gathered up just for the second season. After doing more research about the location back in that time period it was figured that new clothing was going to have to be brought in to fit into the time period. It just so happens that Scotland is one of the most documented places in history when it comes to the fashion of the times, so that made it quite easy to find the information they needed. Just about every inch of clothing was beaded and embroidered and that kept the costume team busy.
