Orange Is the New Black’s Taryn Manning Assault Case Dismissed, Actress Suing City for False Imprisonment!

Who would’ve thought that a star from “Orange Is the New Black” would be involved with lawsuits and jail in real life? Recently, this all came down on Taryn Manning, who has been dealing with a particularly problematic presence in her life, and faced the risk of having her reputation ruined. In the end, it looks like the actress has made it out of the whole ordeal clean and in one piece, and now she is also planning to take action against New York City for what she claims was false imprisonment in a different incident.

The whole situation was a bit complex to follow from the start, and it didn’t help that things were mostly being kept under wraps due to the sensitive nature of some allegations. Holly Hartman, a former friend and make-up artist for Manning, tried to cause a lot of legal trouble for the actress, going as far as to get a restraining order against her. However, a lawsuit against Manning was just recently dismissed, clearing her of all charges.

According to reports, Hartman didn’t actually show up in court, so the case was dismissed by default. We don’t know if she has any plans to take further action, but there are minor rumors from people allegedly close to her, claiming that she isn’t about to put the story to rest just yet. Considering how things turned out for her in court, we aren’t too sure what else she could do at this point to get anything out of the situation, but the US legal system is complicated and has many interesting loopholes.

Meanwhile, Manning has been involved in another lawsuit, this time filed by her against the city of New York. In the lawsuit, the actress claims that she had been falsely imprisoned about a year and a half ago, when she made contact with Jeanine Heller. Manning had a restraining order taken out against Heller due to stalking, and according to the police back then, Manning had broken the law by initiating contact herself.

However, Manning and her legal representatives insist that the arrest and subsequent detainment were completely unjustified, as they were made in knowledge of the fact that the case would most probably end up getting dismissed later on. Now, Manning is reportedly trying to sue the city for $10 million for the incident, and the situation has been quite hot in the news for a while now. Whether or not she will actually succeed with her suit is impossible to say of course, but reports claim that there are various precedents in legal history that could be of help to her, so she might actually have a relatively strong case.

Needless to say, fans of the show have been following all this drama with a lot of interest, and judging by some of the discussions in communities related to “Orange Is the New Black”, some see this as bonus content on top of the show itself, as there is plenty of drama in the whole situation for those who enjoy it.

Orange is the New Black

James Franzetti, attorney for Manning, has made various statements about the situation, including the claim that Heller had been non-compliant with her restraining order, and that the arrest of his client caused damage to her reputation. Given the publicized nature of the incident, we could definitely agree that the whole thing didn’t paint Manning in the best possible light, although some of her fans seem to see things differently.
