Laura Prepon plays the role of Alex Vause in the American prison comedy-drama TV series “Orange is the New Black” on Netflix, which is set to premiere next year, although no specific release date has been announced thus far.
Her character was in a huge cliffhanger during the Season 3 finale when she was trapped into a corner by a security guard who turned out to be an assassin that was out to kill her.
Fans were actually wondering whether Laura Prepon would still be part of Season 4 considering that her character Alex appears to be teetering on the throes of death. But the actress seemed to have quashed the speculations that her character is going to die when she posted on social media a few months ago a selfie of herself and her Litchfield Penitentiary ID.
When reports come out that Laura Prepon is still involved in “Orange is the New Black” and filming her parts, fans knew that Alex would still be around in Season 4, notes the Christian Today.
A director for an episode
It was also Laura Prepon who threw praises recently on Matthew Weiner for directing an episode of “Orange is the New Black” Season 4.
Matthew Weiner is the creator of another hit TV show titled “Mad Men” and he agreed to direct an episode of the prison comedy-drama TV series because he is friends with Jenji Kohan, creator of “Orange is the New Black.”
Prepon also disclosed that they had fun filming the episode of “Orange is the New Black” being helmed by Weiner. She recalled that they filmed a huge day on December 6 and she said that Matthew Weiner knew exactly what he wanted to do.
She said that Weiner is not unlike other directors who usually get overwhelmed by a show with a huge cast as “Orange is the New Black.” She said that it was actually the reason why everything during the filming went smoothly.
Laura also gushed that she loves Matt as a director because he is awesome.
Interestingly, the episode of “Orange is the New Black” marked the first time that Weiner directed something that is not of his own writing. He has also joined other directors who helmed an episode or two of the popular Netflix TV series that include Jodie Foster, Nicole Holofcener, and Allison Anders.
Nominated for Golden Globes award
“Orange is the New Black” is one of the six TV series that are nominated for the upcoming 73rd annual Golden Globes award under the Best Comedy TV Series category, reports Variety.
Competing for the award are other comedy TV shows including “Casual,” “Mozart in the Jungle,” “Silicon Valley,” “Transparent,” and “Veep.”
The Globes are voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, a group of roughly 90 journalists and photographers. The organization has been criticized at times for its idiosyncratic choices. It also differs from the more high-profile Oscars.
Meanwhile, Season 4 of “Orange is the New Black” is still months away from its premiere date on Netflix but rumors and speculations about the show have been making the rounds on the internet, indicative of how popular and widely followed it is.
However, as of late, it seems that some of the cast members are now quashing the previous rumors about them or their respective character in the TV series.
Critics believe that more than debunking the previous reports, the cast members are merely avoiding that fans and viewers get too many spoilers about the upcoming season of “Orange is the New Black.”
Because once the spoilers are confirmed, it shall definitely lessen fan enthusiasm on the TV series; unlike in the case where they do not know at all what is to happen on the show, and would make them watch the episodes in awe and anticipation as they unfold.
Two actresses of “Orange is the New Black” have recently come out to muddle up the previous rumors about their respective characters and what to expect or not to expect from them come Season 4 next year.
The character of Stella Carlin, played by Australian actress Ruby Rose, has become one of the most popular in the TV series during Season 3 because of her relationship with Piper, played by Taylor Schilling.
