‘Orange is the New Black’ Season 4 to Delve on Nicky After Being Hauled Off to Maximum Security Prison

During Season 3 of the American comedy-drama TV Series “Orange is the New Black” on Netflix, Litchfield’s favorite redhead inmate Nicky Nichols, played by Natasha Lyonne, was only seen during the first three of the 11 episodes.

Nicky took the fall for getting heroin inside the prison and she was sent to maximum security prison. As one of the fan-favorite characters of the series, Nicky’s absence was very noticeable, prompting fans to wonder when they would ever see the inmate back on screen again, details Christian Today.

It looks like the wait of the fans will come to an end by next year as reports have it that the upcoming Season 4 of “Orange is the New Black” will already delve on Nicky after she was hauled off to maximum security prison during episode 3 of Season 3.

During the third episode of the just-concluded Season 3, Nicky got carted off to maximum security for bringing heroin inside Litchfield prison. It can be recalled that Nicky is a former drug addict and in Season 2, she stole Vee’s stash before teaming up with Big Boo to move the heroin out of Litchfield to earn some extra cash.

In order to facilitate the transaction, they needed help from the inside and they got Luschek, played by Matt Peters, to play his part on the scheme. But the plan of Nicky and Big Boo went haywire after the prison’s two meth heads, Leanne and Angie, discovered the stash.

As Leanne and Angie revealed on the arrangement of Nicky and company, it prompted Caputo, played by Nick Sandow, to search Luschek’s desk where a little white baggie was found. But even before the investigation is completed, Luschek already spilled the beans and pin the blame on Nicky. It was quite easy to believe that Nicky was the mastermind of it all because she was a junkie. And that was why she was taken to the maximum security prison. Nothing has been heard from her since then, details the International Business Times.

Consequences for her actions

Natasha Lyonne gave a hint of the future of her character on “Orange is the New Black” during the 2015 Summer Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour panel.

She thought it was good for show creator Jenji Kohan to give a big consequence for Nicky’s playing around with heroin inside the prison. She added that it can’t all be fingering and cookies all the time as there is going to be hell to pay at a certain point for playing with her personal fire.

Although the storyline meant that she will not be seen in the show from the fourth episode of Season 3 onwards, Natasha still lauded the work of the writers on Nicky because she thinks it’s a good thing to have a major character suffer major consequences. She believed that being a little bit too friendly might lose for the show some of its bite.

She added that she was actually excited about Nicky’s story in Season 3 because Jenji made sure that it happens that way. She says that she really trusts the show creator for his ideas and she is also a person who is always up for an adventure, even on a short notice.

Other questions that fans need answers for

Season 4 of “Orange is the New Black” is about 10 months away from airing on Netflix but it seems that speculations on the internet on what fans should expect from the show are more than enough to complete the 13 episodes of the forthcoming season.

High on the list of the rumors is of course the situation of Alex, played by Laura Prepon, who seems to be a goner by the way the events of the series finale of Season 3 turned out.

Orange is the New Black

However, based on her latest Instagram post where she held up an identification card for a correctional facility and wearing an orange jumpsuit, Laura Prepon is sure to be back for Season 4, which means her Alex character will survive the threat on her life.
