It appears to be becoming a tradition for the cast of “Orange Is the New Black” to get together for a celebration after completing the filming of a season. It’s actually nothing new under the sun at all, as various other shows are known for that – and in the case of “Orange Is the New Black”, these events tend to see a lot of publicity, plus the occasional revelation about the upcoming season of the show.
While this time fans didn’t get to hear any interesting details about the new third season of their favorite show, it at least seems that the crew has managed to have a good time at the karaoke bar, as everyone was expressing great satisfaction from the event. IN particular, Alysia Reiner said that “Laverne was the bomb”, referring to the impressive singing skills her fellow actress reportedly displayed at the event. Most were actually speculating that she might have taken the time to rehearse before heading out, although this was mostly said in a joking manner.
There are also videos from the event showing actress Lea DeLaria performing a scat song, while Samira Wiley was singing “No One” by Alicia Key. She seems to know the words quite well, despite twisting her tongue on a few occasions – in the end, she still performed noticeably better than most other people present, even though everyone gave a good performance overall.
Alysia Reiner stated that she had one small disappointment about the event, and that was the fact that she couldn’t have the stage all to herself, as she had to leave to attend another event in the middle of the karaoke party. According to her, it was actually her first time at a karaoke bar, and she found it very exciting, although she was too late in choosing her song and the arrangements couldn’t be done before she had to leave. She stated that she was looking forward to singing “Killing Me Softly”, and she would still like to do it some day.
In related news, it’s still not confirmed whether the character of Lorraine Toussaint will be coming back for the new season, but she was reportedly seen at the party – in fact, she arrived with a 10-year old girl. There was apparently some confusion over the type of party she would be attending, and she didn’t realize she was going to be at a bar, although the incident was reportedly mostly seen as funny by most people present. Still, Toussaint had to leave early because of the misunderstanding, though she still seemed to have enjoyed herself, judging by reports from people present.
