Orange Is the New Black Season 3 has wrapped up with their shooting. The cast and crew have been tight-lipped to prevent any scoops from being leaked. The viewers who have read the book ‘Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison’, by Piper Kerman know that the series has deviated from the plot of the book. This stops the series from becoming predictable.
The show creators have deviated from the book to bring in more drama and action and give the characters a new dimension in order to make the series suited for television. The character of Alex Vause has been created to give space to more romance.
Alex Vause has been missing from action in the previous seasons, but she is to come back as a permanent character in Orange Is The New Black Season 3. The previous season saw how Piper spoke out Alex’s name during the trial so that she gets a stint in the prison. This season will see the ex-lovers reuniting in the prison. The viewers will get a chance to see the two ladies figure out their relationship.
Fans of Alex have a reason to rejoice, but they should be ready for the fact that there won’t be much romance between Piper and Alex; not after they have landed in prison because of each other. It will not be a love fest, but it is sure going to be an exciting encounter when the two meet in Season 3.
Crazy Eyes, who is a big fan favourite, had realised that Vee had been using her all this while, in the previous season. She was left emotionally and mentally devastated. Orange Is The New Black Season 3 sees her come back stronger. Vee is speculated to have died in the previous season, but the actress playing her role has shot for some scenes. This indicates that Vee might appear in the flashbacks revolving around Tastee’s life before prison.
Show creator, Jenji Kohan has revealed that season 3 will focus on the issue of “faith”. There are talks about Lolly, portrayed by Lori Petty of being a part of Season 3, apart from actors like Blair Brown, Mike Birbiglia and Mary Steenburgen.
The Netflix comedy-drama is set to release in June 2015. Orange Is The New Black garnered immense popularity in its honest and controversial portrayal of women prisons that have not enjoyed much space in popular culture. The show also has raised quite a few eyebrows with its portrayal of lesbians.
Loosely based on Piper Kerman’s book, it follows her ten years stint in a women prison following an incident of transporting drug money across borders.
