OnePlus One vs. Apple iPhone 6: Does the ‘Benchmark-Killer’ Outperform the Benchmark Setting Masterpiece?

Apple recently launched two variants of the iPhone, namely the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus at 4.7-inches and 5.5-inches respectively. If you are torn between the iPhone twins and the underdog OnePlus One, we suggest you arrive at a conclusion after going through this post.

OnePlus plans on following in the footsteps of compatriot Xiaomi in their endeavor of coping up to the initial rush. They plan on putting aside the highly controversial and much-criticized invitation-only selling procedure by the end of October.

Design and Display:

The Apple iPhone 6 boasts of a 4.7-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD touch screen with Retina display. It packs a healthy 750 x 1,334 pixels while the OnePlus One boasts of a 5.5-inch LTPS LCD display packing in 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. While Apple currently offers 326ppi on the iPhone 6, OnePlus One offers 401 ppi.

In terms of designing, Apple has followed the same strategies used to design the iPad Air. Hence, the exterior is metallic glossy, lending it a majestic ceramic feel while the rear panel fits comfortably in the palm. The rounded edges of the iPhone lend it a sleeker feel. Apple has taken care of safety, and the use of top end quality products guarantee safety from physical damage.

The OnePlus One features magnesium finish exterior, lending the device a matte-finish, premium-look and feel. The One sports a removable rear panel with tons of customization options including denim, bamboo and Kevlar, etc. skins.

Hardware, Software and Connectivity:

The OnePlus One features a Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Krait 400 processor, which clocks out at 2.5 GHz. The iPhone 6, on the other hand, is powered by Apple’s A8 processor that clocks out at 1.4 GHz. While Apple offers just a single GB of RAM, the OnePlus One features 3 GB of RAM.

OnePlus One features 16 GB of built-in storage apart from a 64 GB variant. Apple, on the other hand, offers the iPhone 6 in 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB variants. Both devices do not support expandable storage.

The Apple iPhone 6 runs on iOS8 while the OnePlus One runs on CyanogenMod 11S and Android KitKat 4.4.2, which is upgradable to KitKat 4.4.4.

Camera:

The Apple iPhone 6 features an 8 MP primary camera with dual LED apart from a 1.2 MP secondary camera. The OnePlus One on the other hand sports a 13 MP primary camera along with a 5 MP secondary camera. The additional enhancements on the iPhone 6 include FaceTime Camera, optical image stabilization apart from digital image stabilization.

Battery:

While the OnePlus One features a Li-ion 3,100 mAh battery, the Apple iPhone 6 features a Li-Po 1,810 mAh unit.
