OnePlus One Users to Get an OS Update Based on Lollipop Soon!

Even though they’re preparing for the release of the OnePlus Two, the company still hasn’t forgotten the original phone that they released, and are still actively supporting it. It was just recently announced that owners of the OnePlus One are going to get a brand new OS update in just a few days, adding various features all based on the recent Android Lollipop.

This will bring the device even closer to the main release branch of the operating system, and even though the modified OS is its own unique thing, it’s still tied to Android and relies on it for many of its features. Which is why upgrading it to this most recent version would be a great thing, as it will introduce many of the benefits that were added with the most recent release of the main Android system.

This update was actually supposed to be released about two weeks ago, but the company ran into some issues with its development. Apparently, they encountered problems getting the OS certified for the market and weren’t able to push it out through the various testing channels in time, but now it’s been prepared and ready for its final release.

The company already released their custom ROM earlier during the month, and now users will just have to wait for the CM12S-based release if they want to be fully up-to-date with the latest advancements in the operating system.=

Things still aren’t quite certain for the update’s release in some markets, particularly the Indian one, as it’s not sure if the update will be made available over the air in the country. The company is looking for ways to get that done, apparently, but they have run into some issues according to reports.

In the meantime, OnePlus are preparing for the launch of their latest device, the OnePlus Two, which will reportedly upgrade the experience quite a lot over its predecessor. At the same time, they’re following a rather strange development model, in which they’re also planning to support the original phone for as long as possible, to the point where they have allegedly delayed the release of the OnePlus Two because they still feel confident in the performance of the original device.

While this might seem strange to some users, it can definitely make sense in the long run. The original phone was sold through the idea of exclusivity to a large extent, so it makes sense to get a little more out of the public interest in it. Once the second phone is released, this might actually serve to generate some additional interest for the first one too, but we can’t be sure.
