OnePlus One Flagship Specifications Make it Worth Holding On to For a While Amid OnePlus Two

The OnePlus Two has been formally unveiled on July 27 in the UK and it will soon be hitting global retail markets within the month via the maligned but otherwise proven effective OnePlus invite system.

While the latest flagship smartphone of the Chinese smartphone maker lives up to the hype of better than its predecessor, a good number of users of OnePlus One are inclined to hold on for a while to their current handsets before eventually upgrading to OnePlus Two.

It is likely that much of the buyers of the OnePlus Two are non-users of OnePlus One. The excitement of owning a superb flagship smartphone at half the cost of the current flagship handsets of big name smartphone makers is actually higher on them than users of the OnePlus Two predecessor.

One thing going for the OnePlus One users is the fact that the successor to their smartphone actually looks very similar to the one they own, cites the Phone Arena.

The difference

Physically, the differences to the body of the OnePlus Two compared to OnePlus One include the slightly different camera module, a metal frame with a speaker grille on its bottom, and a touch-type fingerprint sensor home button at its front.

In terms of dimensions, the OnePlus Two is slightly thicker and heavier than the OnePlus One, which may be a bit of a letdown to its users because they are expecting that the latest smartphone will be thinner and lighter than its predecessor.

The OnePlus Two also looks nicer compared to OnePlus One with the slight facelift. However, the difference between the two smartphones is not clear as night and day, and thus justifying the decision of OnePlus One owners to hold on a bit longer to their units despite the arrival of the 2016 flagship killer.

Humble beginnings

With the formal launch of the OnePlus Two, the glorious run of the OnePlus One as the flagship killer of 2014 is about to draw to a close to allow its successor to take over the reign.

The Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus, however, seems to be going easy on the reputation of its upcoming flagship smartphone as the next flagship killer to ease the mounting pressure of too much expectations both from consumers and competitors.

Looking back to the humble beginnings of the OnePlus One in June of last year, it practically went from zero to a flagship killer in six months, notes the GSM Arena.

What made the OnePlus One really appealing was its unbeatable price point vis-à-vis its high-end specifications and a 64GB of storage, which is a great bargain at only $349.

The smartphone became the phone for the savvy internet user or those who knew how to seek out the best gadget that offers more worth for their money in the market. Eventually, consumers realized that the OnePlus One was not the easiest device to get their hands on because the Chinese smartphone manufacturer was too conservative in mass producing the handset. Supply was hardly enough to meet the demand, which was a positive problem for the company.

The OnePlus One had its share of birth pains owing to a rough start in the business. Its debut got delayed a number of times to contend with a lot of issues. Just from the name itself, the Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus Tech originated from another Chinese handset maker Oppo, as sort of spin-off.

The name itself is a giveaway but much more if the OnePlus One is put side-by-side with the Oppo Find 7 and the Oppo Find 7a smartphones to show the uncanny resemblance. OnePlus One looks like a chip of the old block with similarities far too many than can be noted in the exterior.
