The last time we saw Robin Hood in “Once Upon a Time”, the character wasn’t exactly in a good situation. In fact, fans were pretty certain that they won’t see him on the screen again, and the producers didn’t give any indication of the contrary either. But recently, we’ve been hearing some interesting reports about the upcoming episodes of the show’s new sixth season, particularly related to Robin Hood.
According to the rumors, the character will actually come back in future episodes, although it’s not clear exactly how this will be realized. It seems like the producers aren’t planning to literally pull him out of the Underworld, so we at least know that this is out of the question.
There are other possibilities, such as flashbacks from the past. But according to Sean Maguire, who plays the role of the character on the show, he wouldn’t be very pleased if that was the direction the writers wanted to go. Whether or not he actually knows the fate of his character is hard to tell, and he’s likely also in the dark about the upcoming developments.
The actor did claim that he had no reason to believe the producers are planning something like this right now though, so that’s probably a positive sign for those who don’t want to see any flashback scenes.
It’s possible that we may see him brought back through some “unconventional” means, and the show may even decide to explore some darker areas of its lore in order to explain his return. Fans have actually been speculating quite a lot in this direction, and it’s interesting to follow some of their arguments.
The show could also explore some interesting new directions with regards to the revival of Robin Hood, and season 6 may very well turn out to be a completely new era for its fans. There are various other rumors lined up for season 6, and it seems like we could see some drastic changes soon. Among the different claims, it’s been brought up several times that another character might be on his/her way out.
Hopefully that’s not true, or if it is, the producers are going to go about it in a graceful manner. Fans of the show have been getting a bit tired of the showrunners’ attitude towards some of their characters, treating them in an expendable manner sometimes.
It might be a good idea for the show to actually slow things down and start exploring its current characters in more detail instead of advancing the plot so rapidly. There is certainly a lot that can still be said and shown about the current characters of the show, and we fully expect at least some of them to go through some more major developments during season 6.
We’ve only seen one episode so far, but it did seem to have a slightly different tone from what we’re used to. It’s possible that it was a hint towards what fans should expect from the future, indicating that we may see some drastic differences in the show’s format between season 6 and the last ones.
Fans seemed pretty satisfied overall with the way the first episode of season 6 was handled, but there is still a lot to see until the end, and things can quickly change down the line. But in any case, some changes would definitely not be a bad idea for this show right now.
