Just before the airing of the 68th annual Emmy Awards, ABC has released the latest trailer of the American fairy tale drama TV series “Once Upon a Time” Season 6 entitled as ‘Untold Stories.”
Apparently, the TV series would also be focusing on the untold stories of Aladdin and Jasmine from the “Arabian Nights” in a whole new world, which is a reference to the song “A Whole New World” in the Disney animated movie “Aladdin.”
Aladdin shall be played by Deniz Akdeniz while Jasmine shall be played by Karen David in the sixth season of “Once Upon a Time” due to return to ABC on September 25.
The pair would be joining other characters from other stories of yore including Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the Count of Monte Cristo, and a whole lot more, reports Comicbook.com.
“Once Upon a Time” features Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White/Mary Margaret, Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan, Lana Parrilla as the Evil Queen/Regina, Josh Dallas as Prince Charming/David, Emilie de Ravin as Belle, Colin O’Donoghue as Hook, Jared S. Gilmore as Henry Mills, Rebecca Mader as the Wicked Witch/Zelena, and Robert Carlyle as Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold.
Synopsis of the premiere episode
The network has already released the official synopsis for the first episode of “Once Upon a Time” Season 6 entitled “The Savior” and it will see Regina dealing with her dark alter ego, the Evil Queen, reports the International Business Times of UK.
The Evil Queen is determined to leave a trail of destruction in her wake even as Regina is learning that destroying her dark side would be difficult.
Emma, on the other hand, will learn a life-altering secret that could have serious consequences for her family and loved ones.
While the Storybrooke heroes grapple with what Emma is confronting, Henry shall welcome the new arrivals from the Land of the Untold Stories and they are going to be plenty.
Henry also promised to help each of them to complete their tales, which means each character’s story will be highlighted in Season 6 of “Once Upon a Time.”
Twisting the stories as children know it
Trust the showrunners of “Once Upon a Time” to twist the fairy tale stories as children and the young once know it, but the Season 6 of the hit show shall actually see Cinderella causing trouble in the relationship of Snow White and Prince Charming.
Such plot never happened before in the fairy tales because there is no connection between Cinderella and Snow White, aside from the fact that they are both princesses.
But in Season 6 of “Once Upon a Time,” the connection between Snow White and Cinderella, played by Jesse Schram, shall be unveiled.
Cinderella in the TV series is just a guest character so her appearance is short-lived. In fact, the reports are saying that she would come out only in the third episode of “Once Upon a Time” Season 6.
In addition to Cinderella getting in the way of couple Snow and Charming, Regina shall also come back to haunt the pair, which was consistent with the plan that the Evil Queen hatched a long time ago but shall be effected in Storybrooke in the upcoming season. It was showrunner Adam Horowitz who confirmed the diabolical plot of Regina.
Apart from Cinderella and Regina, there will also be additional characters from the Land of Untold Stories who shall make the peaceful life of the Charmings complicated.
There are also reports going around that Aladdin shall be introduced in Storybrooke in the upcoming sixth season. Morpheus, to be played by Giles Matthey, shall also be appearing in the show as the Greek god of dreams. Dr. Archie will likewise come back to the show.
