Apparently, the company did not want to put the hardware out until they know that they have an equally strong software base to support it, bares Rubin.
He explained that if they launched the Touch with the Rift, there would have been a bunch of demos and a few good titles like Job Simulator and Fantastic Contraption, but they wanted to give their developers enough time to really create a launch line up, a good slate of titles that would last hours as opposed to minutes of enjoyment, and that would require time.
Thus, Oculus opted to continue tweaking the Touch design to improve both its ergonomics and performance as developers continue to toil away on the software side.
He said that the developers are really happy with what they have got, and they did not want to release it until they were satisfied with the ergonomics, every button was in the right place, and everything was perfect in the Oculus Touch.
Rubin also explained that the very latest iteration of the Touch was pretty much the final iteration and it features improved tracking performance and range.
Oculus has yet to announce a release date for the Oculus Touch but reports are saying that it would be happening in the fourth quarter of 2016 and some are saying that it could actually happen during the Oculus Connect developer conference slated in October.
