The complete list of nominees for Grammy Awards 2015 has finally been revealed. The big winners include Beyoncé and the UK crooner Sam Smith. Both of them picked up six nominations. With so many of these accolades, Beyoncé is currently the most nominated female artist in the complete Grammy history. Both Smith and Beyoncé received the Album of the Year nods, specifically for Beyoncé and ‘In the Lonely Hour’.
Both of them are up against Beck’s Morning Phase, Ed Sheeran’s X and Pharrell William’s G I R L. In the meantime, for the Record of the Year award Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” will face Sia’s “Chandelier”, Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX’s “Fancy” along with Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off”. Swift, Smith and Sia all received recognition for the Snog of the Year category.
Quite a few big hitters are available for the category of the Best Rock Song. These include Jack White’s “Lazaretto”, Beck’s “Blue Moon”, The Black Keys’ “Fever” and Ryan Adams’ “Gimme Something Good”.
At the same time, Beck, Adams, and The Black Keys have also been nominated for the Best Rock Performance including Arctic Monkeys for “Do I Wanna Know?”. Talking of the Best Rock Album, various nominees include the self-titled fourteenth album from Ryan Adams called Morning Phase, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ ‘Hypnotic Eye’ , U2’s Songs of Innocence and The Black Keys’ ‘Turn Blue’.
Fans will also witness numerous challengers for The Best Alternative Album category. It includes St. Vincent’s self-titled third album, Arcade Fire’s Reflektor, Cage the Elephant’s Melophobia, Jack White’s Lazaretto and Alt J’s This is All Yours. All of these nominees were declared by Ezra Koenig from Vampire Weekend.
All the nominees for the current Best New Artist include eminent personalities like Sam Smith, HAIM, Brandy Clark, Iggy Azalea and Bastille. Of course, The Marshall Mathers LP 2 by Eminem is up for the Best Album Award. Along with that, fans will get to see ScHoolboy Q for Oxymoron, Common for Nobody’s Smiling, Childish Gambino for Because the Internet and Iggy Azalea for The New Classic.
Nobody gets left behind as celebrity artist Kanye West has been nominated in Best Rap Song category for his creation, “Bound 2″. The other noteworthy nominees for this award include Nicki Minaj for “Anaconda”, Drake for “0 to 100 / The Catch Up” and Kendrick Lamar for “i”.
For the Best Urban Contemporary Album, it will be a battle between Pharrell’s G I R L and the self-titled fifth album by Beyoncé Knowles.
