No Man’s Sky Now Among Worst-Rated Games on Steam, Developers Still Working on Updates!

Things still aren’t looking up for “No Man’s Sky” and the team behind it. In fact, the game has been on a downhill roll ever since it came out, despite efforts to calm down fans and alleviate the situation. People have been growing increasingly frustrated with the state of the title, and the number of negative reviews on Steam has been growing significantly.

The situation reached the point where “No Man’s Sky” is now one of the most poorly-rated games on the platform in all its history, and the trend is still negative. With just over 10% of reviews recommending the game, it’s clear that the studio won’t be making any significant sales in the coming months.

Despite that, Hello Games are reportedly still working on updates for their game, and are planning to at least address some of the complaints that have been raised since the initial release.

Fans definitely had a lot to say about “No Man’s Sky”, but considering that most of their issues were related to the way the game was advertised – and the differences in the actual release – we aren’t sure just how much the studio can do to earn back their fans’ trust.

It didn’t help that Sean Murray, who used to be quite vocal and active on social media before the release of the game, mysteriously disappeared and went completely quiet shortly after it arrived to the market. He only made some vague positive comments along the lines of “we’re amazed to see so many people playing”, which drew further negative attention.

Recently, reports have come out stating that Murray is simply busy working on the next patch of the game. While this is technically good news, some fans have called its legitimacy into question, claiming that they don’t believe that the people behind “No Man’s Sky” are actually putting any effort into the title at this point.

Some are claiming that they don’t even have a reason to, considering that they still managed to make numerous sales despite the controversy. However, there were also multiple reports of people asking for refunds on all platforms where “No Man’s Sky” is available.

Considering that a refund also hits the developers with some additional charges, it’s entirely possible that the final result hasn’t been very positive for them. Even with the support of a major publisher like Sony behind their backs, they still failed to impress their fans, and some are questioning if Hello Games are even going to release anything else in the future.

It’s true that the gaming industry tends to have a very short memory, with people happily buying the products of companies that have mislead them in the past. But on the other hand, some cases of controversy are just too big to be ignored.

The situation with “No Man’s Sky” was practically the #1 headline in many gaming publications for days and even weeks after the game’s release, and it will take a while for gamers to forget that fiasco.

No Man's Sky

So even if the studio’s next game isn’t “No Man’s Sky 2”, they will still have to put a lot of effort into convincing people to give them another chance. No matter how much marketing they do for it, they’re still going to find it very difficult to get people’s attention. And according to some gamers, that’s how things should be.
