According to the list, there are multiple overlaps between the Source 2 developers and “Half Life” developers. 37 of the 48 “Half Life 3” developers were also assigned for Source 2.
It is possible that the team is prioritizing the new engine before they can focus on “Half Life 3.” Nonetheless, if this is true, it is still very far to the future when the gamers will see “Half Life 3.”
Just as Gabe Newell, co-founder of Valve Corporation said, getting the game in a year would not be enough for the team. The team would most likely burn themselves out for a game like “Half Life 3.”
