Nintendo ‘Splatoon’ on Wii U Latest Update Features New Football-Like Game Mode

Weapons are provided to the players at the beginning of the game. The primary weapons include a chargeable rifle, a giant paint roller, and a mid-range gun. Secondary weapons include bombs, grenades and ink walls. Temporary weapons include enemy detectors, shields, and ink strikes. With money earned from battles, players can upgrade their weapons collections. As players make progress in the game, the choice of weapons increases.

“Splatoon” series also support Amiibo, which is Nintendo’s wireless protocol for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U gaming platforms. Every Amiibo type unlocks extra equipment with new missions. There is also a mini-game that can be played after the gamer completes the missions. The game can be played on the Wii U platform while in lobbies.

The single player campaign, called Octo Valley, offers a gameplay in the form of a rescue mission. The goal is to save the source of power for Inkopolis, the Zapfish, from the villains, known as Octarians. A default weapon is provided for the players in this mode, but it can be upgraded by Power Orbs found in various stages of the game.

In proving its popularity, “Splatoon” follows “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” in the UK video game sales chart, thus claiming second place. On the other side of the world, it debuted at No 1. in Japan, with over  144,000 copies sold.
