The cast members of the American supernatural drama TV series “The Vampire Diaries” had their dinner recently thrown by executive producer Julie Plec and uncharacteristically, it did not have Nina Dobrev in attendance.
Plec even shared eight photos of the cast dinner on her Instagram last week and captioning it with Happy Season 8.
Dobrev was not in any of the photos leading fans and viewers of “The Vampire Diaries” to speculate that the actress was not returning to the hit TV show, after all, contrary to the reports coming out in the last few weeks after the Season 7 finale of the TV series last May, notes Celeb Dirty Laundry.
In fact, the assumption also bred further speculations that the reports about Nina Dobrev returning to “The Vampire Diaries” is just a publicity stunt to get fans to watch the struggling The CW drama.
However, it was Julie Plec who confirmed that Nina is coming back on Season 8 of “The Vampire Diaries” and the only thing she did not reveal is the role that the actress will be taking on when she comes back.
Interestingly, actress Nikki Reed, who is the real-life wife of Ian Somerhalder, was at the front and center in one of the pictures shared by Julie Plec on Instagram, which also led fans to speculate that it could also be the reason why Nina Dobrev did not attend the cast dinner.
Or it is possible also that Dobrev was not in the dinner because she was busy filming the reboot of “Flatliners” in Toronto, Canada with Diego Luna, who if rumors are true, is her new real-life boyfriend.
Ex-couple at the San Diego ComicCon
“The Vampire Diaries” shall have a confirmed panel at the upcoming San Diego ComicCon and reports have been swirling around that the show will be headlined in the event by Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev, cites Mobile & Apps.
The presence of Somerhalder, who plays Damon Salvatore in the TV series, and Dobrev, shall confirm once and for all that the actress will be back in Season 8 of “The Vampire Diaries.”
Both the actor and the actress will be actively participating in the Q&A portion during the show’s presentation panel at the San Diego ComicCon.
There are also indications that other key cast members of the show will be around including Paul Wesley, Candice Accola-King, Katarina Graham, and Zach Roerig, along with executive producer Julie Plec.
While there are rumors saying that Dobrev might take on a different character in her return other than Elena Gilbert, it is clear that the reason why “The Vampire Diaries” was such a big hit in the ratings department during its first six seasons is because of “Delena” and shippers would really love to see them together again.
However, there are reports going around lately saying that Dobrev will be taking on the role of Sybil in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 instead of Elena Gilbert or Katherine as in the past seasons of the TV series.
Based on rumors, Sybil is an immortal who uses her immeasurable power and influence to control other people. Accordingly, Dobrev’s new character is not friendly just like Katherine, who was described as the most ruthless, notorious, and infamous vampire in history.
“The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 is to premiere on The CW on October 21 and it seems that the reunion of Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore, or at least the actors portraying their respective roles, will come early.
Breaks came rather late
When Nina Dobrev left “The Vampire Diaries” after its Season 6 finale last year, she was preparing herself for more acting assignments, especially on films.
Unfortunately, the breaks did not come her way during the past year which made her look back at her decision to leave the TV series that made her very popular in the first place.
It is most likely the reason also that when “The Vampire Diaries” executive producer offered Nina the opportunity to return to the TV series for its upcoming Season 8, she no longer refused and decided to take the offer.
