The open-ended nature that the Elena Gilbert character of Nina Dobrev has gone out in the American supernatural drama TV series “The Vampire Diaries” may have actually left the door ajar for her to come back in the show at any point in time in the future.
It could be remembered during the series finale of Season 6 of “The Vampire Diaries” that Nina Dobrev’s character fell into a deep slumber in a coffin, and her fate tied to Kat Graham’s character Bonnie. This means that Elena, or Nina Dobrev for that matter, can come back to the show any time she pleases, opines MTV.
That notion was actually confirmed by the cast members of the popular TV series during their show’s panel presentation at the ComicCon 2015.

Very much in the series
Ian Somerhalder, who is the former boyfriend of Nina Dobrev in real life, says that Elena is still very much in the series, adding that she’s in a casket and just having a nap.
Paul Wesley seconded Somerhalder’s jest by saying that characters in “The Vampire Diaries” die and come back in the series like Jesus.
But Candice Accola made a more serious take on the matter by saying that such is actually the beauty and fun of the series. No one knows when characters are going to leave and no one knows either when they are going to come back. She added that it has been the constant premise of the show over the past six seasons.
For a big departure from a major cast member that is left open-ended, Accola says that the possibility of Nina Dobrev coming back to reprise her Elena Gilbert character is always there.
If those pronouncements would not stir fans into anticipating the premier of Season 7 of the show on October 8 at The CW network, then perhaps nothing will.
Difficulty moving on
Meanwhile, actress Nina Dobrev continues to be hounded by rumors that she is finding it difficult to adjust to life after leaving “The Vampire Diaries.”
It was also widely speculated that Nina finds it hard to move on from the show because of her former boyfriend Ian Somerhalder, whom she shared a great deal with both in love and career as mainstays of “The Vampire Diaries” for the past six seasons.
In order to debunk rumors that she still have not moved on from her breakup with Ian, she recently showed off her new rumored boyfriend Austin Stowell during Jamie King’s baby shower, details Realty Today.
Austin Stowell is also an actor, best remembered for his roles in the movies “Dolphin Tale 2,” “Bridge of Spies,” and a few more.
Prior to the baby shower party, the two were also spotted last month looking very happy and affectionate with each other during a Hallmark Shoebox event. They were even seen kissing thrice during the whole performance.
Accordingly, Nina has been introducing Stowell to anyone whom she knows but who is not yet aware that somebody already replaced Ian Somerhalder in her heart.
During Jamie King’s baby shower party, the two were said to be all over each other the whole time. They were holding hands, wrapping arms and are not too overly concerned about the level of PDAs that they are showing among the people.
There are also reports that it was actually 22-year-old songstress Selena Gomez who brokered the relationship between Nina and Austin after she reintroduced them to each other and encouraged the two to hook up and get to know each other better.
