Despite the departure of actress Nina Dobrev and her Elena Gilbert character during the series finale of the American supernatural drama TV series “The Vampire Diaries” Season 6, fans are eagerly anticipating its seventh season due this coming fall.
With a barrage of information, rumors or otherwise, regarding the upcoming plotlines of Season 7 of “The Vampire Diaries” in the internet, it sure had fans getting thrilled and excited, with most of them almost forgetting that Nina Dobrev is all gone from the show.
Apparently, Nina Dobrev feels sorry that she is longer part of the show although she did not say that she wanted to come back and reprise her Elena Gilbert character once again.
It turns out that Nina has had to do some sort of introspection after her career did not pick up the way she had planned or intended to be when she announced that she will be quitting “The Vampire Diaries” in April after spending six seasons with the series.
According to iSchoolguide, the actress has yet to book any major role in an upcoming film or TV series, which she once enjoyed as the lead star for “The Vampire Diaries.”
She also feels bad somehow that her departure has breathed a new life into the TV series and her character’s exit opened up a whole new world of possibilities when it comes to storylines
Seeing how her former co-stars including former boyfriend Ian Somerhalder doing well in the show without her, who is idle as she has yet to get into major projects, really breaks her heart with envy and regret for her decision to leave the show.
More heroic
According to Caroline Dries, executive producer of the show on The CW, Stefan Salvatore, played by actor Paul Wesley, will come into his own in Season 7 as he takes on the role of a hero.
She added that Stefan’s hero hair will grow at least three inches next season, which she thinks fans will find it cool. Dries said that while Stefan has always been a hero in past seasons of “The Vampire Diaries,” he will be more heroic next season.
For his part, Paul Wesley feels that “The Vampire Diaries” will never be the same again without Nina Dobrev and her Elena Gilbert character in it. He said that fans will surely feel nostalgic about not being able to see Nina in the show again.
He disclosed that he still does not have an idea on what the show’s producers and creative team are planning but he is privy to the fact that they have a good plan to keep the series going and interesting for fans.
Making fans fall in love with the show again
With the main romance all gone “The Vampire Diaries,” actor Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon Salvatore in the show, says that fans should expect a volatile and sexy series when it returns on The CW network this fall for its Season 7.
The 36-year-old actor, in a recent interview, disclosed that Season 7 of “The Vampire Diaries” will revisit elements from Season 1 and Season 2, which were the years when fans really fell in love with the show.

What, did she think she was that special. She is nothing but another actress mediocre talent that will soon be forgotten. She’s nothing but an eye candy.
I agree! I felt that she was trying to make a statement by announcing she was leaving the show right before her ex got married, even though she had known for months that she was leaving. It was like, “look at me, I’m leaving the show” as if to say the show is going to suffer because she is leaving. She was also trying to upstage Ian’s wedding announcement, because he and Nikki had been in the news practically nonstop since their engagement. I feel she is attractive, but she just looks average without makeup and fancy clothes. Pretty girls are a dime a dozen in hollywood. Even the ones with talent have a hard time landing leading rolls. She should have stayed of TVD until at least something better came along. I know she is rich but money can only go so far between jobs. I also feel the reason she left was because of Ian, though she will never admit it in a million years.
I don’t think she was trying to upstage Ian’s wedding at all. The announcement that a lead is leaving is not only the actors prerogative, the makers of the series decide when the news should be out. It affects the viewers they have to deal with it sensitively. You may read news where Julie Plec has said they wanted the news to be out at a certain time. It was not up to Nina.
I agree that pretty girls aren’t rare to come across, but Nina definitely deserves better than the vampire diaries. The series was getting boring as hell.. there are viewers on this planet whose lives don’t revolve around delena. The makers seem to forget that.. almost always.
Lastly, why would she want to upstage Ian’s wedding, he has a diehard fan following which must have given him the attention he wanted anyway. He did after all publicize his wedding by posting pics and videos just as he is publicizing his honeymoon.
That’s pretty rude I think that Nina is an amazing actor. She played both Elena and Katherine extremely well distinguishing their personalities fantastically. I can’t think of Elena and Katherine having any similarities even though there’s both played by Nina. Nina will be missed
I didn’t mean to be rude in anyway. I was just stating my OPINION. But you are quite right, the way I said it was quite harsh. But I was reasoning with the statements and being honest about them. I know being harsh can hurt someone’s self esteem, I was just expressing my thoughts. You are absolutely right, she used to be magnificent in playing Katherine and Elena especially Katherine in which impressed many people in her acting! I think she will leave legacy on TVD with her fantastic acting of the Fierce Katherine Pierce, she will be remembered! Even the S1,S2,S3 Elena will be remembered. And I also think she was unbelievably beautiful and appealing in the earlier seasons and at her prime. But people change as time goes and celebs including people always have their highs and lows thought their careers. Who knows, she could be another Angelina Jolie at the making but I was just stating as it is. But you never know things change for the best. :) I think she will be more successful if she’s unique and has that “WOW” factor about her that differentiates her from other actresses.
I wish her the best.
Haters will be haters, it makes them bitter, so just leave them. to be blind for talent and jealous is nothing new. Their opinion means nothing.
that’s not true..she is a very good actress! and yes, she was pretty special for this show. I think Paul was right, that the show will never be the same again without Nina Dobrev and her Elena Gilbert character…
Hi well I wrote something else but it disappeared,
I fee you being out of line, Nina is a very professional actress, she left there show, but it fell thrtow. Thasts real life young lady. Every since the media got their hands on Nina and Ian’s relationship, thing wentg down hill. But she handled it like an adult, also since Jan and Nikki started dating and then got married, she done awesome, which I doughty most of nthe womedn out there couldn’t hold it together, but she did even though Nikki was a good friend, How many would be able to do that and work with Ian everynday? She did and never missed a beat.
I am tired of this bashing Nina, ian has moved on, she has done a lot better than I could working every day.
But that’s not enough, she has it ribbed in her face every day, Nina got on E I believe and she said she was happy and their wedding was beautiful. Also she said she loves In and she was okay with it tjhast they were friends before dating and still are, that most of this was media.
So grow up and sdtop bashing her. As far as I can tell, she HSS been
As I was saying grow up, and stop bashing, she is happy, I’m sure she does casre fore him, who wouldn’t after dating 3 years.
She left the job for another show, fell through, so is life but I feel if she is asking to come back let her, thee book series is all about her, read it. Also several othernasre gone off show I dontnsee bashing them.
So stop being and acting like a high school kid. Nina is tjisx storey technically, and nownthast CIA is deed, the spell should be broken, so they can bring her back, so we will have to see, but Nina bashing needs to stop, you haven’t bashed the. So think on that one, if it wasn’t for Elania, the vampire diaries wouldn’t be .
So think before writing grap.
So glad she left. Now finally the writers will find time to focus on the storyline instead of writing bedroom scenes for the rabid delena fandom. I bet Nina got tired of doing the same thing over and over it is hardly challenging for an actress to play the part of a bedmate. Whatever she does henceforth I hope she chooses well.
The odds of her leaving when she did I think it had something to do with Ian. That aside she is a good actress and pretty but. There are dozens and dozens of actresses in her same situation with no work. She should have stayed it’s not a roll that comes along everyday and she will figure that out. I’m sure they offered her more money to stay if not she could have demanded it. Maybe she will come back. Even as a guest why not
That’s true, Nina is a beautiful actress, no doubt, but I think she thought too highly of herself. She didn’t expect the show to go on without her, I didn’t expect the show to go on without her, but it is and I’m glad. I think there’s a lesson in there for all of us.
Lol first of all I love her Cuz we have the same name and I feel bad that she is leaving but the show will have a lot more drama with DAMON coping with elenas loss and steroline and a lot of other stuff
I have and idea that Victoria justice comes into town saying that she is related to Elena…she runs into Damon and says that her adoptive parents told her that her real parents were isobel and John(I think that his name) everyone finds that they can trust her so they tell her everything that happened the supernatural stuff and isobel and John and Jenna and ELENA’s adoptive parents dying and all that other stuff and this basically opens up a whole new portal for new romances and drama and supernatural stuff it would be awesome but this time they shouldn’t make her the main character it should just be the Salvatore brothers………
I think that TVD going back to the season 1 and 2 format would be great. They were fast paced action packed episodes. Klaus was in Season 2,3 and 4 and bringing Elijah and Rebecca into it was good for many reasons. There was a certain energy they brought to the show with all their family drama. Season five felt a bit slow moving and a bit of a let down in a way and that was due to the Mikaelson family going to their own spin-off show not just the crappy traveller plot. Joseph Morgan played Klaus for 3 out of the 6 seasons on TVD. They were fighting the same Villain for 3 seasons but it never got boring. He is a talented actor. I liked seasons 1-4 but 5 was a bit boring. Season 6 was better but they spent too long saying goodbye to Elena in the finale. I preferred the Originals finale which was more exciting. TVD could actually get better if they go back to the pace and feel of season 1 and 2. I could never get my head around Elena being Stefan’s girlfriend for 3 years and then she went out with his brother for the next 3. That’s pretty weird I mean I know the fans love Delena but it was better when they had all that tension before they got together anyway. And lets be honest when Stefan saved Matt from drowning instead of Elena at the end of season 3, Damon said he would have let him drown to save Elena so I find it a bit hard to believe he saved Bonnie and left his precious Elena stuck in a sleeping spell.
Agree with everything you just said. A lot of what transpired between Damon and Elena is full of contradictions. Elena burned her house down when Jeremy died and yet she was joking in season 6 about of how Damon killed Jeremy and of course Elena still loves Damon. He killed Elena’s friend Aaron whitmore when they broke up and no one seemed to mention it to Elena. I am a huge fan of Bram Stokers Draculla, but even Draculla knew he should have let the heroine go and she kills him herself. I loved the way Stefan was the one to kill Katherine. It was very opera like and reminded me of the movie. Unfortunately I can’t say that about sleeping beauty Elena. That and delena was very anticlimactic.
I will miss Elena si much because without delena love what else is their so the show better plan something good
Samantha, I understand why you love delena, but love, a whole lot of the audience has left because they started focussing too much on them instead of the great storyline that the show used to have in season 1 to 3. Moreover post Ian and nina’s break up, all delena scenes are visibly lacking lusture. The awkwardness is obvious. I personally stopped taking interest in Elena’s character ever since she so dynamically changed after becoming a vampire. Many people loved human Elena for her compassionate nature. She lost all of that. The transition of her moving from Stefan to Damon was poorly handled. Delena scenes don’t add anything to the story. The barn scene right before the finale episode was so unnecessary. I would rather have watched Elena bond with Jeremy and her friends instead.
