Nicki Minaj turned religious over the weekend as torrential downpour dampened her island getaway in the Caribbean island of Curacao.
The “Anaconda” singer shared a video on Instagram on November 26 giving her fans a glimpse of her island hiatus. While the poolside cabana looked idyllic, the weather was less than ideal as it was having torrential rain.
Nicki caption the video with ‘#Curacao’ with a crying-laughing emoji. The 33-year-old singer-rapper also said that she plans to go into the pool despite having no sun, reports People.
She was also overheard saying in the video that she needs a miracle because she wants to go in the pool. Minaj also said that she did not come all the way out there to be looking at the pool and not coming in the pool.
Towards the tail end of her short clip, Nicki also started speaking in Spanish and translated her wish for a miracle from God.
A price for a busy week
While her Curacao island vacation was not quite as sunny as she had hoped it to be, it was certainly a lot better from the cold East coast temperatures which she endured early in the week while in Washington D.C., cites Yahoo! Celebrity.
Before her island vacation and recent trip to Washington D.C., she was seen giving a beat to frequent collaborator and gal pal Ariana Grande and her harmonies during their performance of “Side By Side” at the 2016 American Music Awards on November 20.
So after a hectic work week, it was only appropriate that the “Bang Bang” singer gets her much-needed respite although the rains put a downer on her plans.
But it is likely that Nicki eventually got her day under the sun in Curacao soon after as nothing has been heard from her since posting that rather dampening video clip on her Instagram.
Not in a hurry to do next album
It’s been 19 months since Nicki Minaj released her third studio album entitled “The Pinkprint.” While a lot of people have been asking here when is she going to release her fourth studio album, the “Super Bass” singer appears not in a hurry to do so.
Contrary to rumors that she will be releasing a new album this year, it seems unlikely at this point in time since she wants to take some time off to reflect on her successes and failures with regards to her last album.
“The Pinkprint” did not do well in the market when it came out early last year so it was below the expectations of Nicki Minaj. While the album did peak at the No. 2 in the US Billboard album chart, it remains her lowest-selling album thus far.
She has told fans earlier this year that she would not be rushing her next album. She explained that she needed time to hear herself again because she was left off with “The Pinkprint” which came as a little bit emotionally unstable.
Minaj also explained that she wanted to take a moment to just live her life, enjoy her life, have fun, go out. She feels that those things are very important for her before she starts writing again for her new music.
While Nicki may not have given many details about her own new project, she treats her Barbz well with a load of feature verses on other artists’ tracks.
If she has been in the studio with DJ Mustard, that could be a sign of things to come for her own album. The two have yet to team up for a Minaj project, so maybe the time has finally come.
He has worked closely with Nicki’s boyfriend Meek Mill, who is reported to be heavily involved in the project, so it’s not out of the question.
