Toyota have been enjoying a lot of popularity in certain market niches, such as the sedan market thanks to the Camry – however, while the company was eager to innovate and advance their models significantly at first, this trend seemed to die down as time went by, and the last few Camry models weren’t that impressive according to most critics, particularly when it came to their driving comfort. Most have also noted that Toyota’s designers have started to fall behind times as the Camry was looking more and more outdated with each model. And now, with the latest entry into the line, this just might be about to change, as Toyota are obviously trying to step up their game significantly.
The new model, which recently entered the market, saw some very noticeable improvements to the base Camry design. Drivers and passengers can now enjoy a much more refined interior, offering a significantly improved riding experience. The interior is improved both in its design as well as the materials used, and the instrument panel has seen a redesign which makes it more intuitive and accessible.
Sound lovers will apparently also enjoy the new Camry more than the older models, as it offers better sound insulation, meaning that on one side, they’ll be able to enjoy their own music at better quality, while on the other, outside sounds are more efficiently blocked out. According to reviewers, this is particularly noticeable on long highway rides, during which the car remains almost perfectly quiet.
At the same time, it packs quite a lot of power for an “average” sedan, and still gives a relatively good gas mileage. Other than some improvements to the system, the engine hasn’t been changed from the previous models, and the car’s mechanical performance has seen a smaller improvement compared to its other aspects. Those who’re buying the Camry for its performance alone may be left slightly disappointed.
Still, all things considered, it seems that Toyota are really getting back into the game properly with the new Camry, and they have been paying attention to what people have been saying about them. Which is good, because Toyota is still a company with a huge potential for making market-defining products, but they shouldn’t fall into the trap of relying on their old success and fame too much. Far too many companies – in all sorts of industries – have ruined their services that way, and it would be sad for many auto lovers to see Toyota go down a similar path. So far though, there doesn’t seem to be any indication of that. If anything, the company is moving in the exact opposite direction.
