‘NCIS’ Will See a Fundamental Shifting in the Sands in Season 13, Says Actor Michael Weatherly!

Season 13 of the American police procedural drama TV series “NCIS” will premiere on CBS on September 22 but fans of the hit show are getting very excited on the developments both in the main plotline and also the characters.

By this time, everybody knows that NCIS leader Leroy Jethro Gibbs, played by lead star Mark Harmon, will survive the two gunshot wounds he suffered during the Season 12 finale when he was shot by Luke on his leg and on his chest.

After tracking Luke to Zakho, Iraq where he was being held under the protection of the kid-targeting terrorist group known as The Calling, Gibbs and Senior Special Agent Anthony ‘Tony’ DiNozzo, played by Michael Weatherly, and CIA Officer Joanna Teague, played by Mimi Rogers, travelled to the place.

Gibbs eventually split from the two to follow a suspicious girl through the marketplace. The girl gave him the slip and Gibbs was left out in the open. Subsequently, Luke shot the NCIS leader twice, before leaving him to die as the show draws to a close with that biggest cliffhanger ever.

Mark Harmon has signed on for the complete Season 13 of “NCIS” so it is expected that he will get his payback on Luke during the upcoming installment of the series.

According to actor Michael Weatherly, there will be some fundamental shifting in the sands of “NCIS” because Season 13 will be about digging stuff up, details Christian Today.

He said that he hopes Gibbs will find a new reason in his life after seeing Tony progress with his own life, adding that this is the year that Tony and Leroy will subvert expectations.

Weather explained that his character has been waiting for something all this time and he believes that it will finally come and viewers will figure it out on Season 13.

Starting the season at odds

DiNozzo and Gibbs will reportedly start Season 13 at odds as the NCIS leader recovers from his injuries while Tony momentarily takes over his chores and be the team leader again.

After watching Gibbs spent much of his last 15 years alone, it could actually lead Tony to think that he might end up the same way too, which he certainly does not want to.

Tony has come close to love several times in his life during the show. He was once engaged and he also fell in love with the daughter of the man he was trying to bring down. He almost gave up everything to stay with Ziva in Israel forever. However, up until this time, he remains the eternal bachelor of NCIS, details HNGN.

Michael Weatherly said that that his character does not want to be like Gibbs who has no wife, no partner, and living with all those ghosts in his past. He said Gibbs can’t move on from it because he is trapped. Tony believes that Gibbs sees his own hope in Tony.

Without really going direct to the point, what Weatherly was pointing is the fact that Tony will most likely get his long-awaited love life on Season 13 of “NCIS,” which would be really good for his character, the NCIS team, and ultimately the show.

Will live to fight another day

ncis season 13

After the Season 12 finale of “NCIS,” many of the fans of the show were actually wondering whether Gibbs will survive his dilemma or not but when Mark Harmon signed a contract extension for the full Season 13, everyone knew that the NCIS leader is going to live and fight another day.

As to who will save Gibbs from the obvious physical peril, it was eventually reported that Jon Cryer will be coming in as a guest star in Season 13 of the “NCIS” including its premiere episode.
