It would be interesting to see how Ellie will cope with the reunion and if it will have any implications on the story in the long run, but that’s probably very likely. After all, it wouldn’t make much sense for the producers to run such a special, dramatic episode only to end up sweeping its events under the rug and ignoring it in the future. It sounds like the episode would actually have plenty of potential to expand the story in various ways, so the next episodes of the show should be very interesting.
Plus, reports are talking about this situation as if Ellie’s mother is going to be a more regular member of the cast after this episode, so we’re likely going to see her more deeply involved in the character’s life and there should definitely be some implications on the story from this whole event. Let’s just hope that it won’t change Ellie’s character in any negative ways as it’s the kind of scene that can definitely do that as well if the writers are not careful.
